8 Truly Iconic Steve Harrington Quotes

Ah, Steve Harrington. The character from Stranger Things whom we were unsure about at first, but we’ve quickly grown to love over the past three seasons. If you binge-watched Stranger Things season three earlier this month, then you’re probably suffering from major withdrawals from one of the most popular shows in the current television and Netflix climate.

Steve Harrington was originally the ‘douchebag’ of the show in season one, bullying Jonathan and piggybacking on his friends’ treatment of others within their school. But when he finally ditched these friends, he turned to our favourite kids for companionship, and unknowingly, became their mum, babysitter and let’s face it, friend. So here’s eight truly iconic Steve Harrington quotes we’ve compiled to commemorate the truly iconic Stranger Things character.

1. This Is Crazy!

Steve doesn’t really involve himself with the Upside Down world before the end of season one when he goes looking to apologise to Jonathan. Little does he know however that when he arrives at the Byers’ house, Jonathan and Nancy are under siege by the monster! And while most characters are scared, no one quite embodies the true and utter fear of these monsters better than Steve Harrington.

2. Finger-Lickin’ Good

In season two, Steve ditches his former ‘friends’ and spends all his time with Nancy Wheeler, the girl he has seemingly fallen in love with. When he sits down for dinner with Nancy’s lost friend Barb’s parents, the four of them share a KFC dinner.

Of course, as carefully thought out by the Stranger Things producers, the KFC buckets and packaging replicated the 1980s packaging perfectly. When Nancy excuses herself to go to the bathroom as she feels guilty once again for Barb’s death, Steve awkwardly looks at Barb’s parents and mouths the iconic KFC motto.

3. Don’t Cream Your Pants

When Billy comes looking for Max at the Byers’ house, the kids are all scared to admit that Max is indeed with them, because if he finds out, he’ll foist her away. Steve comes to the rescue of the gang and offers to protect them by standing up to Billy when he arrives.

4. Hey Dickheads!

When the gang attempt to attract Dustin’s Demogorgon to the car junkyard, Dustin and Lucas have a heart to heart, leaving Steve and newcomer to the party Max, to set up the trap. Poor Steve is left doing a lot of dirty work!

5. You’re Gonna Slay ‘Em Dead

Dustin and Steve’s friendship flourishes beautifully when Dustin needs help with his baby Demogorgon D’art, and soon the two become the best of friends. Steve offers girl advice to Dustin when he is still recovering from his heartbreak from Max, and soon he makes him over before the Snow Ball dance. Words of encouragement are shared, and we all fell in love with Steve Harrington.

6. Ocean of Flavour

Poor Steve loses his charm when he’s forced to wear his sailor uniform at Scoops Ahoy, especially the hat which he claims is ruining ‘his best feature.’ He hopes to meet and score dates with girls while on the job, but continuously fails each time he tries. When he finally has had enough, he takes off his hat and tries once again with a beautiful pick-up line. We’ll set sail with you, Steve!

7. It’s Only Marijuana

When poor Steve and Robin are held hostage by the Russians in their secret lab, they are drugged and cannot think straight. When Dustin and Erica save them, they try to figure out what happened and Steve, obviously seeing things, addresses Dustin as his dad. We’ve got to wonder how often Papa Harrington catches Steve with pot!

8. Steve’s Her Daddy Now

Of course, by the end of each season, we’re going to see our gang fight and save the world from the Upside Down. It’s just supposed to happen that way, okay? So when the Scoops Troop are assigned with the task of contacting Dustin’s Suzie-poo, they hitch a ride from a car Hopper has stolen during his voyage, and now Steve claims the car as his own!
