Halloween is on its way and already the costumes are pouring on out on social media. According to her Instagram, Heidi Klum, Halloween costume queen, and trendsetter have already started prepping for her own costume this year which is sure to be a jaw-dropper. Last year, she pranced down the red carpet dressed as Fiona, with her boyfriend Tom Kaulitz who was dressed as Shrek. Talk about commitment to the holiday.
Just because Klum is putting her all into Halloween doesn’t mean that we can slack off. It’s time to start thinking about that all-important night where you can be anything you want to be. Just who is it your going to be? And what exactly is trending right now for 2019? You can bet that there are going to be more than a few pop culture references this year, especially when there has been the release of so many iconic shows and movies. Here is what to look out for this year with trending Halloween costumes.
Steve’s and Robin’s sailor outfits that they wore for work in the Starcourt ice cream parlor were supposed to be ironic, placid and dorky on Stranger Things Season 3. Since it’s release on Netflix, the Scoops Ahoy outfit has become absolutely iconic and one of the most recognizable costumes of the show. That being said, you will almost definitely find a fair few couples with holstered ice cream scoops donning these Halloween costumes come the night. And I for one can’t wait.

The end of Game of Thrones marked the end of an era for many fans. It had been an entire decade since the first season, and to make it that far showed dedication at its finest. But whether you were bombed by the ending or not, you have to admit. The Night King gave us one of the most iconic winter zombie looks ever. With his withered and wrinkled face and cold, electric blue eyes, the night king somehow managed to combine undead corpse and suave royalty into one character. Even with Game of Thrones now done and dusted, you can bet there’ll still be a few characters wandering the streets on Halloween night. Be on the lookout for the copious Daenerys Targaryens and Tormund Halloween costumes that are also still trending.

The long-anticipated IT Chapter Two lands in cinemas on the 6th September this year, and I’m already wetting myself just watching the trailer. Bill Skarsgård’s take on the 1986 horror novel character has been sending chills down everyone’s spines since it came out in 2017, and now we get to watch it again. Why not pay homage to this incredible take on Pennywise by dressing up as a demonic clown yourself for Halloween? This costume is bound to make another horror round this year with the release of the new movie just coming out.

So End Game dropped earlier this year. And then the world was shook. That happened. Many Endgame inspired Halloween costumes have the possibility of trending this year. Fat Thor, Old Captain America and so many other witty Marvel references will be made. But amidst all of that Captain Marvel is still standing strong as one of the most iconic Halloween Costumes to come out of the Marvel universe. Her blue and red suit with flowing blonde hair and chunky boots make her outfit one that’s easily identifiable and simple to imitate for DIY queens. Not to mention she a kick-ass character too. This year’s superhero is a woman. No doubt about it.

Some Halloween costumes just never get old. This Halloween you’re definitely going to see various Disney princesses prancing down the street after having run away from Disney Land. But more than your run-of-the-mill Disney Princesses, The Grimm Brothers’ leading fairy tale lady, Little Red Riding Hood is sure to make an appearance. Red Riding hood is a classic Halloween costume that’ll never be put down no matter how many years go by. The bright red cloak and the wicker basket are just too iconic to be beaten by anything new that could possibly arise. Like Dracula or Frankenstein, she will never die.

On top of Steve’s and Robin’s Scoops Ahoy look, Stranger Things themes Halloween costumes just wouldn’t be complete without a classic Eleven in her little pink dress and blonde wig. There’ll probably be a few Els from Season 3 running around too, but my bet is that the Season 1 pink dress will still be more popular. Not that the Season 3 outfit wasn’t great, it just didn’t have the same iconic feel to it as that dress that looks so darn cute and out of place on the badass Eleven.

The Addams Family has touched the hearts of all lovers of Halloween since they stepped onto the creep-scene. Whether it’s 1990s movie, the TV series way back from 1964, or even the new Addams family movie coming out this Halloween. That’s right. 2019 is the year The Addams Family goes Claymation!
If you want to jump on the ‘new’ Addams Family bandwagon then why not dressing up as one of the family’s most iconic characters, Wednesday Addams. Wednesday has always been a favourite option for many Halloween party-goers for her easy to copy outfit (seriously, it’s a black dress and stockings. What could be easier?) and Halloween-y style. If you’re interested in dressing up as Wednesday Addams for Halloween, why not check out my other article, ‘10 Halloween Makeup Tutorials Under 5 Minutes’ to really sell this costume as a complete look.
