10 Top Tips On How To Get Fit In 2019

Getting fit is the most commonly unfulfilled new years resolution every year, don't let it happen to you! These are my 10 top tips on how to get fit this 2019.

Getting fit is frequently on the top many peoples to do lists, especially at the start of the year. The most important thing to remember is getting fit is a lifestyle choice, and does not equate to ‘getting skinny’ or ‘getting muscly’.

Here are my 10 Top Tips on getting fit this 2019.

1. Be Prepared To Change Your Lifestyle

The first and most important step in this process is identifying that you need to be prepared for your lifestyle to change. Getting fit is not something you can do within a week, it desires upkeep and consistency. The best way to achieve success is to make changes in diet, exercise, and surroundings.

2. Surround Yourself  With Positive Energy

Surrounding yourself with negativity will likely attract negative thoughts and feelings. This may demotivate you which means you’re unlikely to stick through with your fitness. If you’re serious about getting fit surround yourself with positive energy to elevate you.

3. Re-Vamp Your Social Media

Social media, is full of great things, with amazing bloggers to inspire you to do a variety of things – good or bad. But it can encourage behaviors which don’t add to you getting fit. If every time you unlock your phone there’s a double bacon cheese melt with chunky fries, it’s not going to encourage you to stick to your fitness journey. There are plenty of fitness guru”s you can follow who will inspire and motivate you in getting fit daily.

4. Change What You’re Putting In Your Body

It is more than often the case that whatever you put in your body is likely what you’ll get out. Eat foods that make you feel good, and not just good for the two minutes you’re eating it, but good in the long term.

5. Don’t Bother With Fads Or Diets

Fads and diets are mostly rubbish, at best they’re good for the short term fixes, and they can sometimes be harmful to your body or create negative side effects, like bad skin or bloating.

6. Try Meditating, Pilates, and Yoga

Happy mind, happy body! Meditating is a great way to take a timeout from the world and focus on yourself. It’s also a great way to connect you to why you started your fitness journey and figure put your goals. Pilates and Yoga are also great for your mental health and keep you focused, however, these are also fantastic for building strength, flexibility, and balance.

7. Invest In New Fitness Gear

Personally, I love a new outfit and buying a fresh new gym or running outfit and if you’re anything like me, new clothing will surely motivate you to get up and test out your new items!

8. Don’t Force It

Its important at the start of your journey to remember, not everyone is the same. If you really don’t want to go to the gym 5, 3, or even 2 times a week, just don’t do it. You have to figure out your limits and what works for you. If not you’ll end up overdoing it which could get dangerous, or you’ll simply wear yourself out and quit. Neither is desirable!

9. Limit Processed Foods

Processed foods and white carbs are everywhere and can be really yummy, but it’s important to remember that these are not healthy options and can be harmful in the long term. Try changing simple things like white carbs (white bread or pasta) for whole grains (wholewheat bread or pasta), and go for fresh produce instead of frozen or jarred.

10. Get A Dog?!

Ok, Ok, this one is a bit of a wild card BUT there is some method here – if you’re ready! Dogs need to go outside for walks and runs many times in a day and can create a routine for people who are lacking in motivation to get active. So if you’re ready and able to care for a furry friend, this might be an option for you to consider getting fit this 2019.
