10 Tips To Have The Ultimate Pamper Day At Home
Feeling run down? Perhaps you’re looking a bit worse for wear too. If you feel like you need an escape from reality and time to yourself, don’t fret, you don’t need to head to your local spa and spend hundreds on bespoke treatments. First of all, take a nap: I know you might have a million things to do and feel an incredible amount of guilt even thinking about taking time just to rest but trust me, you’ll feel so focused and be much more productive after you’ve had a good sleep.
Now you’re well rested, let the pamper day begin! Try out a few of these tips to give yourself that fresh-out-of-the-spa feeling in your own home.
1) Robe yourself.
Is a spa day really a spa day without a robe? You want to feel luxurious and as comfortable as possible and there is nothing on earth more comfortable than a soft, cosy robe. These are extremely inexpensive, you can grab them from Target or K mart for around $10. They’re also great to wear around the house in the winter months.
2) DIY it.
You don’t have to go out and buy fancy new products, Pinterest has a whole host of DIY face masks and hair masks that you can make using ingredients you already have at home. Plus, using natural ingredients in your beauty products is super good for you and reduces the chances of inflammation or your skin reacting badly to a product.
3) Fix those nails.
Something as simple as a fresh coat of nail varnish can make you feel 100 times more glam. It will literally take you five minutes and you’ll definitely feel more put together. If you want to go all out for your pamper day, invest in a gel nail kit: get that fresh-out-the-salon feeling whenever you want by giving yourself professional looking gel manicures.
4) Bronzed Goddess.
Don’t get me wrong, all natural skin colours are beautiful and definitely do not need to be changed. That being said, I personally (and I know of others that agree) feel more confident and put together with a healthy summer glow. Whilst sun exposure and sun-beds damage skin, fake tan is perfectly safe and is a great way to get the glow you’re after and feel great without the damage.
5) Facial on a budget.
You don’t need to spend tons of money on your pamper day. Whilst I do believe that high-end, good quality skincare is a great investment, you don’t have to break the bank to treat yourself. Products like the Garnier hydra-bomb sheet masks will do absolute wonders for your skin at only $5 each, or the Clinique blackhead solution at $31 which will last for months and leave your skin feeling balanced and silky smooth.
6) Treat your tresses.
We’re all pretty hard on our hair, from bleaching to teasing to using hot tools on the regular. Your hair has been through a lot and certainly deserves a pamper day as much as you do. Hair masks can leave your hair feeling like you’ve just walked out of the salon and really give the boost of health is needs. Look for masks with naturally nourishing ingredients such as Moroccan oil or coconut oil which helps make the hair stronger prevent breaking and silkier to give it that runway shine.
7) Take a bath.
There’s nothing more relaxing like a good long soak in the tub. Make it a proper pamper day and dim the lights, add some candles and your favourite bath bomb, maybe even stick on some music or take a good book in with you. Create a space to relax and unwind, not only is the warmth good for relaxing your muscles it’ll do wonders for your mental health too.
8) Cook a delicious healthy meal.
This one may sound a little odd but a spa day always entails a buffet of delicious healthy food and juices. It may not feel like much of a treat but (here comes a big shocker) healthy food IS good for you and it DOES make you feel good (I know right, groundbreaking). Treat your body to what it needs, drink plenty of water and fill yourself up with nutritious foods.
9) Take time to do the things you love.
A pamper day isn’t just for lazing around and getting a plethora of beauty treatments. Pampering yourself is all about taking the time to do the things that you love and make you feel good without the guilt. It’s so easy to get caught up in work and responsibilities, we sometimes forget to do the things we really enjoy. Take an hour or two and forget about responsibilities, pick up that book you’ve been wanting to read or that instrument you love to play but have neglected, take some time out of your day for you.
10) Create a relaxing space.
Is your living room covered in paperwork? Bedroom strewn is your kid’s toys and kitchen cluttered with washing and ironing? It can be quite overwhelming to be surrounded by the harsh reality of daily life sometimes, and that’s why it’s important to have a space you can go to relax. It could be your garden, it could be your bedroom, wherever you feel most chilled out. Clear out at the clutter from that space and put it away somewhere where it can’t be seen. Light some candles or set up some fairy lights, set up your space so it’s as relaxing as possible: an escape from the real world.
