In the world of tall buildings and concrete, Iceland stands out and it is a heaven on Earth! Iceland is the most magical place on the entire planet and it will literally take your breath away! It amuses, it amazes and gives you all the positive emotions and a good vibe! Besides Iceland’s capital, Reykjavik which is the most city-like place on the island, you’ll find yourself surrounded by Mother Nature, birds and the peaceful sound of the Icelandic soul! Here is the list of 10 Things To Do While In Iceland:
Iceland is well-known for its beautiful views and scenery – therefore it attracts masses of tourists every year! But let me tell you something – if this place isn’t on your bucket list, follow the text and let me change your mind! If you adore nature as much as I do, save up some coins and visit all the beautiful waterfalls scattered around the island – they’re all different but equally outstanding! Chill out with your friends on the grass sipping on some hot stuff and enjoy the view! Fun fact: FOSS is Icelandic means waterfall!
Jökulsárlón is a massive glacial lake with many icebergs floating on the crystal clear blue water, and seals and skuas everywhere! What is more, right across the road is one of the most beautiful beaches in Iceland you cannot miss out on – Diamond Beach.
Ideal spot for a spa in geothermal water located near the main airport, and it is open every day! Ever dreamt of treating yourself the best way possible? This is the right place to do so!
This is the geothermal area located in the Golden Circle with active geysers erupting every few minutes. This place in Iceland feels like a different planet – there’s steam coming from the hot springs, boiling mud pits and the smell of sulfur! But let me tell you one thing, Geysir will leave you speechless and wanting more!
It is also called ‘the Black Beach’ since the sand is black as well as the cliffs and puffins. It is situated under the mountain Reynisfjall in the southern part of Iceland, very closely located to the village Vik. I’m aware of the fact that it may be easy to lose focus when in Reynisfjara but please watch out because the waves are very strong and unpredictable!
I remember very vividly the time when we came across this place in Iceland completely by accident. We pulled off the road, paid for the tickets and we were standing there looking around totally speechless. This place wasn’t even on our go-to list, we didn’t even know it existed – but in your spare time, go and see it yourself! It looks magical, especially in winter!
Volcanos are a very interesting attraction for tourists, and definitely worth exploring – especially in Iceland! hekla is an active volcano that has last erupted in 2000. It is ideal for long walks and hikes with nice scenery as the mountain is 1,491m tall. Krafla, on the other hand, is 10km long volcano located in the north of Iceland and it is a place you must go to and get the perfect Instagram shot! Let’s spread the love for Iceland Y’all!
An enormous and ancient river canyon which is around two million years old! It is 2km long in distance and up to 100m deep – Fjaðrárgljúfur will definitely make you feel special and united with Mother Nature. The steep walls and water make it even more panoramic.
If you like walking or hiking, this one’s for you! Laugavegur is a (properly) long-distance trail in the south of Iceland, and it runs from geothermal hot springs right to the nature reserve. Also, if long-distance marathons run in your genes, why not come to Iceland in mid-July and take part in Icelandic Ultra Marathon?
Oh boy! This museum is not the regular museum you typically go to, it is more like a display – the display of more than 200 mammal penises & penile parts! People say it represents nearly all land and sea mammals living in Iceland. The tickets are quite pricey – but this may be once in a lifetime! Don’t miss this opportunity to educate yourself!
