mm
These things to do in Thailand are activities that you're going to love and will make your vacation to the country totally worthwhile!

Thailand is an amazing country full of culture and exciting things to see, but what should you do when you get there? Of course you’ll want to ride in a tuck-tuck and you’ve probably already heard about the bustling nightlife and exotic beaches, but there is so much more on offer in this wonderful place. If you’re stuck on where to go or what to do don’t worry, we’ve got you covered! Here are the top ten things to do in Thailand.

1. Visit the grand palace

Bangkok is home to Thailand largest airport, so you’re most likely to fly into this city. This is perfect because from here you can access the Grand Palace. Located in the centre the palace is one of Thailand’s famous landmarks. Tourists come from all over the world to explore the beauty of its architecture. It may get crowded, but it’s definitely still worth a visit.

2. Get a massage

No visit to Thailand is complete without having experienced a traditional Thai massage. You will find this is offered on almost every street in Bangkok. This is less common on the South Islands but definitely still available. Just beware of being offered a happy ending (Unless that’s what you’re into.)

3. The golden triangle

This is the point where the Mekong River meet the Ruak River, the point where Thailand, Myanmar and Laos meet. It’s a gorgeous view and one you should definitely go and visit if you find yourself in Thailand.

4. Full moon

The famous Full moon party is held once every calendar month. Not everybody is aware of this, check out the dates before you book your flight. You don’t want to make the mistake of not being around for Full Moon. This is an event not to be missed, located on the Island of Kho Phanang. I would suggest Island hopping and making this a short stop over, there isn’t a lot to do on this island once the party is over. However this beach party is something that should be on everyone’s bucket list. Grab yourself some glow sticks and U.V paint and get ready for the night of your life!

5. Try street food

You don’t have to be a foodie to enjoy Thailand’s cuisine. Street food is very popular with tourists and locals and its bursting with flavour. It’s important to try the local delicacies, I’m not saying you have to eat fried insects, but definitely grab yourself a pad Thai or a green curry. The food is so tasty, Thai restaurants in the UK will never compare to the real deal, grab it whilst you can!

6. Ride the Sleeper train

Riding one of the overnight trains in Thailand is an experience in itself. These old steam trains make you feel as though you’ve stepped into a different time zone. They offer bunk beds so you can get a good night’s sleep. It’s perfect if you want to travel from Bangkok down towards the islands or vice versa. If you have the time don’t book a flight, save yourself money and the price of one night’s accommodation.

7. Rent a scooter in Pai

Pai is situated North of Thailand, it’s a gorgeous town with a slight hippy vibe. I would recommend visiting in you want some time away from a big city. Pai has lots to do but it is difficult to get around without a scooter. Rent one from the well known walking street and head off up the mountains to find Pombok and Mo Paeng Falls, Hot springs, caves and canyons! This is one of the things to do in Thailand you need to check out!

8. Get involved with the Elephants

The Elephant plays a significant part in Thai culture, being the national animal. You will probably be asked if you would like to ride an Elephant. There are a lot of tours that try to promote this, but please don’t take-part. There are plenty of other ways you can spend time with the Elephants without causing harm to them. For example the Elephant Nature Park in Chang Mai. Take a day trip or volunteer for a week, you’ll get the chance to interact with these beautiful

9. Visit Monkey beach and Maya bay

You can access Maya Bay via Kho Phi Phi Island. There are regular tours that leave the island that will take you to the popular monkey beach, this is a day to remember. These cheeky chimps are not afraid to pinch your sunglasses from your head, so be careful! You will also be taken to Maya Bay, the place were Leonardo DiCaprio’s The Beach was filmed. I would recommend taking the afternoon tour, sit back, relax and watch the sunset as you depart back to the island.

10. Wat Rong Khun white temple

This spectacular Buddhist temple is worth seeing up close and personal. You can appreciate how beautiful this white temple is just by looking at a picture, but actually walking through its grounds is another level of fascination. What makes the temple unique is the detailed paintings you can see inside. If you’re an art lover, you will definitely enjoy this. This is one of the things to do in Thailand you have to try!
