mm
Is your travel bucket list looking a little sparse? Make sure to add these destinations to the list if you want to see the best places!

Every student creates a mental travel bucket list while they should be working on their assignments instead. However easy it is to make these lists, its hard to put them into action. In case you need some extra incentive to get traveling this summer, here’s another list of all the cool places you could go instead of your dorm room over the holidays.

Maldives

The Maldives are perfect for all those summer children who hate the cold. Soak up the warmth and work on your tan at this travel bucket list location. You can swim, snorkel, or surf the day away, and at night take in the bar culture. Or, if you’re a history nut, take some tours to explore the local beaches and learn more about the Maldives themselves.

Route 66

What travel bucket list doesn’t incorporate a good road trip? Take the road more travelled this summer, and drive through America, making stops at all the greatest landmarks. This highway has been the setting of many an iconic travel movie. The open road is a great way to learn about yourself, your environment, and meet new people and fellow travellers along the way.

Oslo

This city is great for exchanges, or ticking off from your travel bucket list. Visit galleries, fjords, and if the weathers right, you may even see the Northern Lights. Don’t forget the friendly locals and cute animals, like sled dogs and elk.

Byron Bay

The chilliest travel bucket list destination. Byron Bay is known for its delicious café and bar scene, great vibes, and surf culture. If your ideal summer involves lazy days on the beach, then Byron is your place.

Bath

Beautiful architecture and vibrant history, Bath is great for lovers and art and culture. There are Austen tours and festivals throughout the year so you can party in a pump room, or hang-out in libraries and museums if you want to learn more about the city.

Overland Track

The travel bucket list for outdoorsy folk should absolutely include this hike. You and your friends can camp out in this beautiful national park in Tasmania, or re-enact scenes from shows like ‘Please Like Me’ where the characters take on this destination themselves. It’s full of beautiful rivers and plants, so make sure to pack your wellies.

Mexico City

The ultimate place for a fiesta. Mexico City has so many attractions packed into one spot. From the bustling streets, to old Olympic arenas, to the ancient pyramids and other indigenous sites. You can shop for days, between tasty food and beautiful clothes, Mexico City is a great spot for travel bucket lists.

Shanghai

This city boasts one of the world’s most beautiful skylines. Climb some of the highest towers to take in the spectacular view, unlike anything else on earth. Make sure to save room for all the authentic Chinese dishes you’ll be eating.

Bangkok

Thailand has so many sights to see, but if you can only visit one place, then Bangkok has got to make your travel bucket list. Here you can visit ancient temples immaculately preserved. By night, eat some world-class food in the active restaurant scene. Don’t forget the markets so you can bring a little Bangkok home with you.

Mount Cook

Whether it’s just a day trip, or you’re camping out, Mount Cook is a must-see. The summit is breath-taking to look upon from ground level, and the view from the top is even better. Even the drive up to Mount Cook is beautiful. This scenery is a must-see for everyone.

Tokyo

New York might be the city that never sleeps, but Tokyo is a close-second. The bright-lights just about overwhelm you, but you’ll easily be persuaded to stay by the food, culture, and uniqueness that is Tokyo alone.

Portland

The ‘jewel’ of Oregon (if you’re a hipster, that is). Portland has a great culture for music, artists, and even slam poets. Portland deserves a spot on your travel bucket list if you love nerd glasses, facial hair, and you passionately own a keep-cup.
