The Ultimate Student’s Guide To Waking Up Earlier

Being a student has its own set of issues, and then there’s the matter of waking up early. Waking up earlier is easier said than done, but with this helpful guide, you’ll become a morning person in no time!

Prep For The Morning

Waking up earlier, as a student, has never been simpler with this easy and useful tip. Prepare your outfit, bag, snacks and other daily essentials the night before, school, college or university, to save time in the morning. This will also give you a little more piece of mind the following morning as you won’t be rushing around trying to find your workout bag or your phone charger.

This quick and easy tip also cuts down the time spent picking out your clothes in the morning, meaning that you will feel motivated to get out of bed and start the day, rather than having to do the mundane task of packing your bag and remembering what you need in a hasty rush.

Set A Bedtime (And Stick To It!)

Establishing a clear evening routine and time to go to sleep has many positive effects. Waking up earlier is easier as the body gets used to sleeping and waking at certain times, making mornings less of a struggle. It’s important to remember to keep your new routine consistent, even during the weekends.

Roughly aim to get at least 8 hours sleep, for a full rest, before tackling the following day!

Turn Off All Electronics

Waking up earlier, after a good night’s sleep, can definitely be achieved with the help of this tip! The blue light emitted from your electronic devices (i.e. your phone, laptop, tv etc.) interferes with melatonin production. Therefore, it’s crucial that all electronic devices are set aside at least an hour before you go to bed.

Failure to do so will ultimately leave you desperately trying to fall asleep whilst laying in bed. And that’s one problem a student does not deserve!

Jump Out Of Bed

One sure way to waking up earlier is by placing your alarm clock as far away as possible from your bed. When the alarm blasts in the morning, you’ll have to get up in order to turn it off. Aviod hitting the snooze button – remember why waking up earlier is important to you.

Once you’re out of bed, you’ll be more motivated to start the day, rather than return to your warm, cozy duvet…

Look Forward To Breakfast

Waking up earlier means that, as a student, you actually have time to sit down and have breakfast for once. Breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day, so remember to have something before you leave for school/college/university. Without breakfast, you’ll be hungry before lunchtime so a good, nutritious and filling breakfast is crucial.

Additionally, breakfast time will provide you with a bit of time to yourself and calm before your hectic day, whether that involves the morning commute, a hefty pile of assignments to tackle or a long day of lectures.

Give Yourself Time

Waking up earlier requires willpower and a good routine. However, it’s incredibly important to remind yourself not to make any drastic changes suddenly. Start slowly, easing your way in to waking up earlier. A good way to do this is by waking up 15 minutes earlier than usual. Once you’re used to this, cut back another 15 minutes and so on and so forth.

Keep doing this gradually until you reach your end goal. Furthermore, don’t be so hard on yourself and remember to reward yourself!
