The Methods To Permanent Eyeliner That Are Shocking

So the fact of the matter is, eyeliner can take any makeup look to the next level, but the time and effort required to perfect it is a real pain in the ass. I know lots of people share my pain, because now, permanent eyeliner is actually a thing. That’s right, people have opted to forego the effort of applying liquid eyeliner altogether and have chosen “micropigmentation” a semi-permanent surgical procedure that basically tattoos eyeliner onto your eyelids. Before you consider it for yourself, read on to find the methods to permanent eyeliner that are actually quite shocking.

1. It starts with a consultation

Before you can undergo any semi-permanent makeup procedure, you need to consult with a technician. This involves going over your medical history, taking “before” photos, and going over the risks of the procedure.

2. The results last for 3-7 years

Be warned, you’re going to have to live with your permanent makeup for awhile, so make sure you’re ready for it! The minimum amount of time that permanent eyeliner will stay on your eyelids is 3 years, so make sure you go to a makeup artist or technician that is well reviewed and that you really trust.

3. You don’t have to feel the pain

You can opt for anaesthesia to minimise discomfort during the procedure, but again this varies between technicians. Some places use a numbing cream where you will still experience a little bit of discomfort.

4. The procedure uses a cosmetic pencil and a needle

First, the technician will draw out the eyeliner with a cosmetic pencil as a guide. This is a chance for you to make any changes before the permanent pigments are placed under the skin using a fine needle attached to an electrical device.

5. The treatment can take up to two hours

Depending on the area and how much pigment you need, a procedure can take up to two hours. Because the eye area is particularly delicate this area takes longer than most. Also, you may need to return for one or two touchups if the area fades quite early.

6. You won’t look that great immediately after

Following the procedure, you may experience redness in the eye area, as well as swelling and bruising. If you wear contact lenses, you’ll have to wear glasses 24 hours prior and after you receive micropigmentation.

7. It involves a lot of aftercare

After your permanent eyeliner is applied, you’ll have to stay out of the sun and the water for a couple of weeks. Plus, you must keep the area moisturised and avoid scratching. You also won’t be able to wear any other traditional makeup in the area for 4 days after the procedure.
