When you live in a flat with 2, or 3, or maybe 7 other people, chances are your flat will get a bit grimy very quickly. 1. Cleaning and Bin Rota

2. Foil on the Stove Tops and Dust Sheets on the Shelves

This is a great tip to reduce the amount of cleaning you have to do (unless you love cleaning and it’s like a hobby or something), because it’s likely that your hob gets the dirtiest the most quickly in your kitchen. Place sheets of foil on your stove top, using tape to keep them in place, and make holes for the hobs. When grime builds up on the surface, just remove the foil and you have a perfectly clean hob again! Using dust sheets on shelves below your crockery is also great for preventing build up.

3. Using Wine to get out Wine Stains

Now this one sounds like some sort of unbelievable miracle, but I promise it works, I’ve seen it with my own eyes. Using clear, white wine on a fresh red white stain dissolves the anthrocyanin compounds in the red wine, and can get rid of the stain completely. Carefully pour and blot the white on the red, and your stain on your new white dress should hopefully disappear.

4. Use a Doormat

Apparently a glaringly obvious tip, but one too few people choose to follow! When you’ve just done the cleaning, it can be the most frustrating thing when fresh muddy footprints ruin your perfectly mopped floors. A doormat is a solution to keep those guest or flatmate prints at bay.

5. Douse Your Shower Head In Vinegar

A shower head is one of those bits that’s easy to miss during spring cleaning. Get rid of all that limescale by covering your shower head with a plastic bag, fill it with enough white vinegar to cover the appliance, and tie it with a rubber band. Let it sit for a few hours, and your shower head should come out squeaky clean.

6. Remove Water Stains From Wood

To keep your flat spotless, you’ll need to get rid of those pesky water stains from your endless cups you keep forgetting to put coasters under. Apply petroleum jelly to the marks and leave it overnight, wiping it away in the morning.

7. Remove Nail Polish With Hairspray

Keeping your carpets clean is an essential part of keeping your flat looking spotless, so you really don’t want any nail polish stains lurking around. 8. Get Rid Of Your Fingerprints

Both for identity-protection and general housekeeping, no one wants grubby fingerprints all over the walls. Dab a chunk of white bread, and yes I said bread, on the walls to remove any prints. Use the rest for a snack. Waste not, want not.
