1. Eggs instead of cereal

Swap out your Cheerios and Wheatabix for something a little more hearty. However you like your eggs in the morning, it will seriously increase your protein intake in the morning, with the meal containing far more protein than even oatmeal. Bonus: eggs will fill you up, and see you right through til’ lunch.

2. Pair peanut butter with fruit

We all love a bit of PB on toast, but PB on apples is a second tasty discovery. Whilst fruit is low in protein, peanut butter has it by the masses, and it’s crunchy texture perfectly compliments firmer fruits. A healthy snack food that your friends will definitely be confused by.

3. Snack on cheese

Make sure you pick the right cheese, e.g. cheddar, and it can be a protein-rich snack to have throughout the day. It’s better than a bag of crisps for you but tastes just as good. Plus, despite common fatty conceptions of cheese, it might actually help your heart out. Try it with some healthy crackers, or you know, nibble on a block- whatever tickles your fancy.

4. Top with almonds

Almonds are one of the healthiest foods you can eat and are also one of the best protein sources in terms of nuts. Try sprinkling a few tablespoons over salads, yoghurts, oatmeal or pasta to add some much-needed protein to your regular food. It’ll add some flavour too.

5. Go for Greek yoghurt

This is massively high in protein, and it also massively versatile. Use it as a substitute for sour cream in dips and other recipes- a jacket potato is highly recommended- or have it with fruit and berries.It has also proved in some cases to help with fat loss- if that’s something you’re looking for.
