The Best Warm Fall Cocktails You’ve Never Heard Of
As the weather gets cooler in autumn, it’s a great excuse to stay inside and have some cocktails. You’ll be able to sit by the fireplace all nice and cosy while you sip on your cocktail. Not just any cocktails though as here is our list of the best warm fall cocktails you’ve never heard of!
1. Docteur du Miel
If you’re looking for a sweet and flavoursome cocktail, this is the one for you!
You’ll need 1/4 oz Bache-Gabrielsen American Oak cognac, 1 tablespoon of honey, 1/4 oz simple syrup, juice of half a lemon and hot water. Mix the lemon, cognac, syrup and lemon together. Add hot water and you’re done!
This is like a sweet, flavoured tea that will definitely help you warm up during the colder nights. This is one of the fall cocktails that is a great alternative to regular tea or just drinking water!
2. Cocoa Buie II
A twist on the popular hot chocolate, this fall cocktail is a delicious chocolatey drink everyone will enjoy.
What you’ll need is 2 oz Drambuie, 9 oz hot milk, 9 oz cocoa mix, 1/8 tablespoon ground cinnamon and 1/8 tablespoon kosher salt. Simply grab a saucepan and mix all the ingredients altogether over medium heat. Slowly stir until it starts simmering. Serve it hot and if you wish, you can add your own toppings (marshmallows and chocolate sprinkles?).
3. Apple Cardamom Toddy
This is another fall cocktail with a sweet taste if you have a very sweet tooth! Similar to Docteur du Meil (number 1), this apple cardamom toddy cocktail actually uses tea.
To make this juicy fall cocktail, you’ll need 2 oz Laird’s Applejack, 1/2 oz lemon juice, 1/2 oz honey and 3 oz cardamom-infused genmaicha green tea (add 1 cardamom pod to steep with the genmaicha green tea).
Begin by steeping the tea and then combine all the ingredients in a glass. Stir well and enjoy!
4. Hot Caramel-Popcorn Bourbon Apple Cider
If you love cider, this is probably the best fall cocktail for you. This cider has the popcorn flavour and when you drink it, it’ll make you all warm and fuzzy inside!
A lot of people like to pour a shot of bourbon into their hot cider but to make this hot caramel-popcorn bourbon apple cider, begin by infusing the liquor with sweet, toasty caramel popcorn. This should only take a few minutes on the stove and when this is done, all you need is the cider and a little bit of butter to float on top of the drink.
5. Eve’s Addiction
With cider, you usually get an apple or pear flavour to it but if you’re a bit bored of regular cider and want to spice it up a bit, try Eve’s Addiction – it’s a very fruity concoction that will have your taste buds buzzing.
If you’re making this fall cocktail for the first time we recommend the following ingredients: 1 tablespoon whole allspice berries, 1 tablespoon black peppercorns, 1 tablespoon whole cloves, 2 teaspoons whole coriander, 3 cinnamon sticks, 4 1/2 cups apple cider, rind and 1/4 cup juice from 1 large orange, 8 ounces applejack, 1 Granny Smith apple (peeled and cored and cut into quarters), 1 clementine or small orange cut into quarters and 2 tablespoons of dried cranberries.
Put the allspice, peppercorns, cloves, coriander and cinnamon in a saucepan. Stir it all together for about 2 minutes over medium heat until it becomes fragrant. Continue stirring and add in apple cider, orange rind and juice, and applejack and bring to simmer over medium heat. Lower the heat and allow it to simmer for 15 minutes.
Strain the mixture to get rid of the solids and then pour it back into the saucepan and add in apple pieces, clementine slices and cranberries. Allow it to simmer on medium-low heat until the apples are fork-tender for about 10 minutes and you’re done!
