The Best Outfits From Eurovision 2019
If you are anything like me, you were glued to your TV screen on Saturday 18th to watch the final of Eurovision 2019 in Tel Aviv, Israel. This year’s winner was Duncan Laurence from The Netherlands with his song Arcade, and despite enjoying his and many others performances, I found myself focusing on the outfits slightly more (as a fashion addict). Eurovision is famous for its campy contestants and performances, and as dress is such an important part of the performance there were some great outfits over the course of the night. So, I have compiled a list of the best outfits from Eurovision 2019, in case you were more focused on the singing than the fashion.
1. Tamata, Cyrpus
Tamata’s outfit was probably the most talked about on Twitter, with people either in awe of how she looked or joking that her bodysuit looked like a chandelier (which it kinda did). The crotch high latex boots and sparkly bodysuit paired with the black leather jacket makes this outfit a winner, even if she wasn’t.
2. Mahmood, Italy
Mahmood, who was Italy’s contestant, was the second favourite on the public vote but only got fourth place overall. His outfit was just as good as his song, throughout all stages of the competition Mahmood wore different patterned short sleeve shirts, and he saved his best one till last. The red and gold floral shirt is definitely a statement item, and paired with the chain and his cool persona this outfit was a 10.
3. Tamara Todevska, North Macedonia
Tamara, from North Macedonia, was a contestant who did extremely well with the jury vote with her song about empowering women, but her dress is what struck my eye instead of the song. While Eurovision is famous for their more out-there outfits, this more understated green satin dress with a black mesh shirt made an impact.
4. Kate Miller-Heidke, Australia
Kate Miller-Heidke’s performance for Australia was definitely a tradition Eurovision entry, meaning it was extremely camp and very quirky. The best, and most nerve wracking, thing of Kate’s performance was that she was on very high stilts which were covered by her amazing ‘good fairy’ dress, all the way down to the ground.
5. Conchita Wurst, Guest Appearance
What kind of Eurovision is it without Conchita Wurst, the 2014 winner and singer of ‘Rise Like A Phoenix’. For his original 2014 performance, Conchita went for a much more feminine gown, but this slightly more masculine look of mesh and black feathers is just as breath taking – you can always count on Conchita for a show stopper.
6. Eleni Fouriera, Guest Appearance
Eleni Foureira, who appeared alongside Conchita in the interval, was last year’s entry for Cyprus who placed second. Eleni came onstage completely covered in a baby pink feather boa, only to reveal this naked illusion, star sequined bodysuit underneath that the crowd absolutely loved; this is 100% an outfit fit for a diva of her standards.
7. Lucy Ayoub and Bar Refaeli, Presenters
It almost goes without saying that the presenters will be dressed in their best throughout the show, and this was definitely the case for Lucy Ayoub and Bar Rafaeli. Although they had multiple outfit changes throughout the shows run, their first gowns – a blush pink strapless dress decorated with feathers and a strapless silver dress with a high leg split – were my favourite out of them all, both elegant and sexy at the same time.
