Who doesn’t love a bit of cruelty free beauty, am I right? Here are some of the best beauty brands you didn’t know are cruelty free!

1. Glossier

Taking the world by storm ever since they first stepped out onto the game, Glossier has been blessing the beauty industry with their products since 2014. What CEO, Emily Weiss, initially started as a blog on women’s beauty called Into The Gloss in 2010, which she worked on early in the morning before she went to work, eventually lead to the launch of Glossier in 2014 with only 4 products at first, including a skin salve, facial mist, concealer and moisturiser. The company now have expanded their product range, including their 2019 range of Glossier Play and are known for their tagline “skincare first”.

2. Urban Decay

Urban Decay is one of the reigning monarchs within the makeup industry and by the looks of things, it’s going nowhere anytime soon. Founded in 1996 by Sandy Lerner and Patricia Holmes, Urban Decay launched with 10 lipsticks and 12 nail polishes inspired by the urban landscape of London. Despite being around for the last 23 years, it was their 2010 Naked Palette that gained Urban Decay their cult following and has since released 7 more variations of the Naked palette, now known as the Naked series. Urban Decay has since collaborated with numerous celebrities such as Gwen Stefani and Ruby Rose creating one of the lines.

3. theBalm Cosmetics

theBalm has only been available to buy in the UK from Superdrug for the last 2 years despite launching in 2004. theBalm came around when CEO, Marissa Shipman started making products in her kitchen at home with the first product that you can still buy today being Plump Your Pucker, a lip gloss now available in a range of shades. What sets theBalm aside from all the other brands out there are their cute, vintage style packaging and quirky names for their products. The Meet Matt collection has become a best seller of theirs, including the Meet Matt(e) Hughes lipstick range and more than 5 Meet Matt eye shadow palettes.

4. Anastasia Beverly Hills

Anastasia Beverly Hills, founded by Romanian-American Anastasia Soare, has been about for around 22 years now, specializing in eyebrow products solely at first as Soare discovered a gap in the market. Despite having been on the scene for so long, it wasn’t until around 2015/2016 that Anastasia Beverly Hills made the internet freak out over their Glowkit’s and the iconic Modern Renaissance eye shadow palette, ah simpler times. Anastasia Beverly Hills is probably one of the most glam options for affordable beauty, having a whole array of beautiful eye shadow and highlighter palettes as well as eyebrow products.

5. Colourpop

Known for their wonderful eye shadow singles, Colourpop was founded in 2014 by siblings Laura and John Nelson, although this wasn’t their first venture into the beauty industry. They also own parent company, Seed Beauty, which owns not only Colourpop but also a little billion dollar company called Kylie Cosmetics that you may have heard of as well as KKW Beauty. Colourpop is exclusive to their website store in the United Kingdom but also sell in Sephora and Ulta Beauty stores in the United States. Their last cult collection that sent the internet into meltdown was their 2018 Disney Designer range which can be bought online.

6. E.l.f

E.l.f, which simply stands for eyes, lips, face was founded in 2004 by Joseph Shamah and John Borba after they met at a party and shared their desire to create an affordable makeup line. Originally launching with only 13 products, E.l.f has now expanded to over 300 products including makeup, skin care products, and makeup styling tools. One of E.l.f’s more famous products as of lately is their Baked Highlighter, which comes in 4 different colours and only costs a reasonable £5!
