While chain restaurants may not be everyone’s first choice when it comes to dining out, there’s something quite comforting about being able to turn up at a restaurant and having a choice of favourite, familiar meals. Whether you’d like a more sophisticated dining experience or looking for some cheap eats, don’t count chain restaurants out! Here’s our ranking of the best chain restaurants in the UK — keep it in mind next time you’re not sure where to eat.
Côte Brasserie is a great chain restaurant that deliveries high quality, French and Mediterranean inspired meals all over the UK. It’s a great place to come when you’re in the mood for fresh, flavourful meals at relatively affordable prices. This chain tops the list because you’ll find a branch everywhere, and the meals and setting never feel like they’ve compromised on quality.
Five Guys is by far one of the best burger chains out there, no question. Their burgers always feel like such a treat and don’t feel as junky and processed as cheaper fast food chains. Plus, the retro-inspired decor and selection of American-style milkshakes makes you feel transported to a whole other era, and that’s definitely not a bad thing.
Nando’s is a great crowd pleaser, and you simply can’t go wrong with any of their peri-peri chicken dishes. With so many options available on the menu, it’s hard to get bored of eating here, despite them really only serving one type of meat. Plus, it’s one of the few places that actually delivers on spice. This is one of the best chain restaurants.
While Pret isn’t exactly a restaurant, it’s one of the most successful chains in the UK and definitely had to be on this list. It’s a great one-stop shop for fresh meals that feel good for you and won’t break the bank. Plus you really won’t be hard pressed to find a branch wherever you are, so you can get your Pret fix anytime, anywhere.
You’ll be spoiled for choice in Wagamama, and not only do they have a large menu, but it’s also constantly changing so you’ll never be bored. For affordable, Asian-inspired dishes that also cater to those with vegan or gluten-free diets, you really can’t go wrong with Wagamama–it’s one of the best chain restaurants around!
Burger & Lobster’s decadent offerings are tough to beat. I mean, how can you go wrong with a succulent cheeseburger with a side of whole lobster? If you’re looking for fuss-free dining (there are only three things on the menu) that feels luxurious, definitely pop into one of their branches. Their only downfall right now is that they haven’t expanded outside of London, but hopefully things will change soon!
There’s so many great, affordable Italian chains in the UK that it was hard to pick just one. Prezzo wins for their selection, portion sizes, and the fact that many of their menu items cater to those with specific dietary requirements. If you’re after some comfort food in the form of pasta and pizza, you should definitely head here.
Cheap sushi that is still enjoyable to eat is hard to come by, but YO! Sushi manages to make it work. Part of the charm of the place is the use of conveyor belts to deliver food, which not only speeds up the dining process, but also makes it easier to discover new and interesting dishes.
