The Best Cat Breeds That You Will Want According To Your Personality

Navigating cat breeds is an important step to take before taking a cat home. Deciding what breed you want will be based on their characteristics and how that meshes with your lifestyle. So, let’s look at the best cat breeds that you will want according to your personality!

Exotic Short Hair

Exotic shorthairs are friendly. like to sit on your lap and cuddle, so if you are a one for obvious yet gentle displays of affection, this is a good option. They are good cats for people who live alone, couples, or even families, but the caveat is that the lifestyle you lead has to be relatively low-key. These cats take a while to warm up to strangers and children and don’t care for noisy and busy environments. If the children that they live with are calm enough and can show gentle affection, then that’s A-ok.

They are inquisitive and will follow their owner(s) around the house. This is not the breed to go for if you live with loud inhabitants with lots of people coming and going all the time. Also, the short hair part of it is key. They don’t require as much upkeep as long-haired cats in that regard.

Abyssinian

Abyssinians are described as being busy, active, agenda-driven, and affectionate. This is one of the cat breeds that can live in an active, bustling household.  They are highly intelligent and love playing games, so they will warm up to people who play with them. Their intelligence also means that you can train them very easily.

They are quite friendly so you can have them around kids and other animals. Though they are extroverted and curious, they can be a bit timid around strangers, but as stated before, there are ways to potentially make them come around. So overall, they make for a good family cat.

Burmese

These cats are very forthcoming and people orientated. They actively seek out attention from their owners. When they want something, you won’t be able to miss it, as they meow a lot. They’ll sit on your lap and talk to you, and if you stop storing them when they feel like more, they’ll vocalise that too.

They like guests and will even cuddle with them. They really do need to be in the constant company of humans or other animals. A Burmese cat will be content living with a homebody.

Somali

Another one of the fun-loving cat breeds. They are very active and have a lot of energy, an energy that they have to exercise.  They are on almost all the time, and love being the centre of attention. They like meeting new people, as they see anyone as a potential playmate.

They especially enjoy solving puzzles. If you’re considering buying a Somali, then know that they can’t share the spotlight with other animals. Their big personality is enough.

Manx

These cats also throw themselves into social situations. Some of their behaviours are dog-like, even. They like to play fetch and really like playing with toys and appreciate getting new ones. They’re also big talkers.

Once you’ve gained the trust of a Manx, they will be extremely devoted and loyal to you. Despite liking a busy social life, they can occasionally find the time to curl up on your lap.

Chartreux

These guys are top tier in the friendly cat breeds department. They’ll love just about anyone. Dogs, kids, birds. Okay, they may love birds in a different kind of way, but I digress. They will want to play with all sorts of people equally, they aren’t picky.

If you give them love and affection, they’ll do the same for you. They are best suited to households that have a person or animal present at all times, as their craving for company is great.

Siamese

Another one of the attention hog cat breeds. They’ll shadow you and make noise while doing it. They don’t mind noisy environments at all, in fact, they’ll probably add to it.  They are curious and will stick their snouts into your business.

They do cuddles and playtime, and also have a dog-like temperament. They’ll play fetch and may even put up with wearing a leash and going on walks with you.

Devon Rex

Firstly, one of the coolest names of any cat breed, maybe ever. Secondly, a big people lover, that doesn’t tear your house to shreds if left alone for too long. These guys don’t get up to mischief like defecating in your absence. They are patient and will find ways to entertain themselves.

They just make the most of the time that they do spend with you be being affectionate. They’ll see you off at the start of the day and happily greet you when you return.

Which of these cat breeds best suits your personality? Are you thinking of getting one? Tells us in the comments!
