Tasty Ways To Liven Up Your Boring Breakfast

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but it is easy to get bored of the same old toast, cereal and porridge. Here are ten tasty ways to liven up your boring breakfast!

1. Avocado

Apparently millennials eat too much avocado – but when it tastes so good, why wouldn’t you? Avocado is a great way to liven up your breakfast. Whether you are smashing it onto toast, placing it on top of your porridge, or just eating it alongside your poached eggs, avocado is a delicious breakfast food.

2. Protein Bites

These little balls of energy are becoming more popular as a breakfast food. Protein bites are often praised for being a “no bake” food, meaning there is no cooking involved. They also come in a lot of different flavours – and you can create whatever flavour you want! Peanut butter and chocolate chip are popular variations.

3. Puff Pastry

Puff pastry is so versatile and can be used to create a really interesting breakfast. It is light but filling, perfect for when you have a long day ahead of you. You can create breakfast hot pockets, tartlets or use them as a base for your fried eggs. Endless possibilities!

4. Apple Fritters

These sweet treats work well as breakfast. They do require a deep fat fryer or electric skillet to make, so do be careful. The deep fried batter gives them a sweet and savoury taste and makes them filling enough to take you through to lunchtime.

5. Sweet Potato

Sweet potato may seem like an unusual thing to eat for breakfast, but it can be a great addition! Sweet potatoes are, unsurprisingly, sweet and do not feel like a chore to eat first thing in the morning. They can be used to create a tasty hash or even sweet potato fries!

6. Baked Oatmeal

Obviously, everyone knows that porridge is a classic breakfast food, but have you heard of baked oatmeal? It is pretty much a flapjack, but you can make a lot of it and use it as a breakfast. It is very filling and it is a slow release food, meaning it will give you energy for hours after you eat it.

7. Snickerdoodles

This American classic can make a great breakfast alternative. The cookies are chunky and heavy in butter, which makes them perfect for early in the morning. Since there is no icing or additional flavourings in the cookies, they are closer to a breakfast food than a dessert.

8. Tortilla Wraps

The United States love their breakfast burritos and you should too! If you prefer a hot breakfast with sausage, beans, eggs, etc. then this might be a perfect alternative for you. Get all your favourite breakfast foods, chop them up, and roll them in a tortilla. Now you have a tasty breakfast wrap!

9. Flatbread

Some people just want toast in the morning and that is okay! If you are getting bored of that, though, then flatbread might be a good alternative. Anything you can put on toast you can also put on a flatbread, so try some different toppings and see what you prefer!

10. Dough Balls

You probably cannot get away with eating doughnuts for breakfast – but what about dough balls? Jamie Oliver has a fantastic recipe for Brazilian breakfast dough balls which uses cassava flour and Parmesan cheese to create a moist, chewy snack which will make you excited for breakfast every morning.
