Super Easy Fitness Hacks That Will Change Your Life
Lets be real, with bikini season fast approaching, we’re all starting to panic that we may have let ourselves go a bit over the winter months. Rest assured, getting back to your best self doesn’t need to be a military grade operation: these simple hacks will help you reach your fitness goals without letting fitness taking over your life.
1) Buddy up
This is the best way to keep you motivated in the gym, having a friend with you will not only hold you accountable when you promised you’d go with them after work (we all know how tempting it in to crawl into bed instead), but you’ll keep each other motivated to get through the workout once you’re there. This is probably my favourite fitness hack because it make the gym feel more like a fun, social event than torture. If there’s no one who’s up for going with you, book yourself into a class: there are often fees for cancellation which will hold you accountable and working out in a group setting will end up making you work much harder than being in there on your own.
2) Shop smart
For me, nutrition is the hardest part of fitness. I don’t mind doing the exercise, but giving up all the delicious, convenient food is such a struggle. The best fitness hack to change your nutrition is being smart in the way you shop. Follow the golden rule and don’t shop when you’re hungry! Stick to the whole foods isles like fruit and veg and stay away from anything too processed, If your food shop is healthy and you don’t have any tempting treats in the house to knock you off that fitness bandwagon.
3) Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate
I am the worst for this, it’s so hard to consume all the water you’re supposed to in a day. You’ll probably find that you can’t find the time or that you simply forget. Whilst it seems like a pain, water is the most important thing we give our bodies, not only does it aid fat loss, it can affect your hair, your nails, and the basic functionality of your body. This fitness hack is a super easy way to get the H20 you need into your body throughout the day. Invest in a decent water bottle (preferably the ones with the built in straw, I don’t know why, but it helps), keep it on your desk or in your handbag and get it out as much as possible. You’ll be surprised how much you unconsciously sip throughout your day. Make sure you re-fill as soon as its empty, which is a great excuse to get up from your desk and stretch your legs. If water isn’t your thing, pop some fresh fruits in the bottle too, it’ll jazz up the taste and is way better than guzzling sugary soda. Make it your challenge to refill at least twice during the day!
4) Don’t be too hard on yourself
I know its difficult, if you’re trying to make a change in your body it’s easy to become obsessive and get disheartened if you don’t see immediate results. This fitness hack is more focused towards mentality, but stay with me. Don’t push yourself to the limit in week one, fitness should be a slow and steady journey, not a quick fix. Allow yourself a treat every once in a while, don’t train every single day of the week, if you’re not feeling well, rest, listen to what your body is telling you and be kind to your body: it’s the only one you’re going to get!
