8 Successful Entrepreneurs Every Student Needs To Follow

To be an entrepreneur you have to be made of a variety of special things- ingenuity, diligence, and  maybe little bit of “crazy”! Nevertheless, there’s a no higher role model than a successful entrepreneur and that’s why we can’t help but admire them!

1. Rihanna

Born in Barbados, Robyn Rihanna Fenty (best known by her stage name, ‘Rihanna’) is mostly recognised for her music career (which speaks for itself considering all the numerous hit tracks she’s released since debuting in 2003), however; in 2017 she made her break into the beauty industry by launching her brand ‘Fenty Beauty’. At the age of 31 Rihanna has reached an estimate net worth of $220 million.

2. Jack Ma

Jack Ma is proof that just because something doesn’t exist, doesn’t mean you can’t make it happen! The founder of the Alibaba Group sought a business on the net at a time when the world wide web still didn’t existent in the People’s Republic of China. Ma had recently resigned as chairman of the Alibaba Group to focus on pursuing philanthropy – showing that entrepreneurs are never too old to continue learning!

3. Elon Musk

Anyone will tell you that building a successful company is no easy task – so imagine founding and operating two same time? That’s exactly what Elon Musk did. Not only did Musk create them from close to nothing, but he was able to turn both Tesla and SpaceX into billion dollar companies. It seems Musk still has his work cut out for him, nevertheless, with aspirations of commercialisation space travel in the not-too-distant future.

4. Oprah Winfrey

Nothing much more can be said about Oprah Gail Winfrey who has spent most of her life in front of the camera as both an actress and talk show host. She eventually took the initiative to launch her own highly successful production company. Like many entrepreneurs, Oprah broke down many conventional barriers at the time – using her talk show platform to help represent people from the LGBT community. She holds the accomplishment of being North America’s first black multi-billionaire and is placed 6th on the 2018 Forbes list of America’s Self-Made Women.

5. Steve Jobs

It’s hard to think of entrepreneurship without putting Steve Jobs’ face in the picture. The Apple founder often dubbed as “the Grandfather of the Digital Revolution” is seen today as the epitome of hard work and unyielding visualisation in the business or entrepreneurs world. At the time of his death, his net worth was estimated to be over $8.3 billion.

6. Vera Wang

If you’re into fashion then you should know Vera Wang! Growing up as a child of Chinese migrants, Vera’s journey to success can be said to be a story of overcoming adversity and of the indomitable spirit. Today she’s seen to be one of the most successful fashion designers in history and is ranked 34th on Forbes 2018’s America’s Self-Made Women’s list.

7. Mark Zuckerberg

Another person on this list who needs no introduction- Mark Zuckerberg first launched Facebook from his Harvard University dorm room in 2004, hit the $1 billion mark by the age of 23, and in 2010 he was depicted in the Hollywood drama film, The Social Network. In 2013, Zuckerberg announced that he had reduced his annual base salary to $1 – going to show entrepreneurs should first and foremost do what they do for the love, not the money.

8. Jeff Bezos

Not many entrepreneurs can say they’ve done what Jeff Bezos has done. By 2018, the technology entrepreneur (best known for founding Amazon) doubled his net worth to approximately 159.6 billion within 12 months. His dramatic net worth growth now places him above Microsoft founder, Bill Gates and onto the pinnacle of the world’s rich list. Bezos credits his heavy customer-focused business approach to the root of his success.
