10 Simple Ways To Enhance Your University Experience

If you’ve already graduated from university or coming to end of your course, you’ll agree that university life goes quicker than you thought! Many students choose three or four-year courses, yet the experience goes fast. You might be searching for ways that you can enhance your university experience to ensure you’re making the most out of the time you have left to create the best memories you can. Here are ten things you’ve got to know to enhance your university experience, so you can leave with no regrets!

1. Join a Society

Pretty much all universities across the UK offer students a society to join, which really means club. Whether you’re interested in sport, dancing, debating, writing and art, there will most probably be a society suitable for you to join. One of the many benefits of joining a society at university is that they are often run by students for students, meaning that you are extremely likely to make loads of new friends with the same interests, whilst at university and is a great thing to do outside of your studies to relieve stress and remain sociable.

2. Stay Up All Night

If one night you’re feeling restless without any lectures in the morning, this one might be a good one if you want to have a go at the challenge of staying up if you can before you start falling asleep. For something a little more fun and interesting, you could always stay up with flatmates, friends or your person of interest for the whole night doing the things you enjoy. This is a really good way of relieving stress and having some fun when coursework is getting too much, and you find your spending too much time alone. Watching movies all night, going out, or even just chilling out in McDonald’s which is open 24/7 is a great way to make things a little more interesting!

3. Freshers Week

Every September and January comes one of the biggest highlights for students everywhere called Freshers Week. This when all the city’s nightclubs hold some of the best and most fun parties put on for students with discounts on entry and alcohol. You can make some of the best memories while making loads of new friends and if you aim to be sociable during your time at university you won’t want to miss freshers!

4. Pub Crawl

If you love alcohol and love socialising, organising a pub crawl with your flatmates or friends is a great way to explore your local area and is a really fun challenge you should have on your things to do at uni list. There are even some societies at university that hold the pub crawl challenge where you set a goal of how many pubs and bars you can drink at within a certain period – it’s bound to get you drunk and open a variety of places for you to go drinking that may become long-time favourites!

5. Go Exploring

While students are stressed with hard work to complete and assignment deadlines to meet, another way you can enhance your university experience and make it less about the work is to get out there and go exploring. There’s bound to be loads of hidden spots that you haven’t discovered right on your doorstep. Whether you live in rural or city area whilst studying at university, there are probably so many fun places that you haven’t heard of or even seen yet and it’s waiting for you to be discovered! This is a great way to enhance your university experience as you sometimes you need to get away from the realms of student accommodation and is a great stress reliever if you want to take your mind elsewhere and get some fresh air!

6. Pull an all nighter!

While many students love to go out occasionally to the local nightclubs to have some fun, sometimes disappointment arises when the friends you’re with decide they want to go home when the party is just getting started, or the nightclub closes earlier than you expect it to because the time is passing fast from all the fun you’re having. Instead, you could arrange with your friends to pull an all-nighter on the town and if everyone is up for it, you could switch nightclubs all throughout the night as some city nightclubs remain open all night into the morning. This is great to have on your university to do list as it’s something different and you get to explore what each nightclub has to offer, and you never know, you might find your new favourite or meet that person of interest. It makes what appears to be a normal night out more interesting!

7. Exchange Program

If you’re the type of student who loves an adventure and have always want to travel the world and gain new skills then an exchange program would be a great thing to do during uni. Many universities offer exchange programmes to their students with a selection of countries to choose from where you exchange with another student from that country for a selected period of time. There are so many unforgettable memories you can make by doing something like this!

We understand that this is not everybody’s cup of tea and that’s fine, but if you’re single and you’ve always wanted to try something a little different outside of getting into a relationship, then having a one-night stand would surely be a way to enhance your university experience. By having a different kind of sexual experience, you may learn something new about yourself and your sexual partner and start an exciting time while at university and make things a more interesting.

9. Dating

If you’re looking for something a little more than a one-night stand while at uni, you may want to consider the prospect of dating to spice things up. The world of dating is becoming broad with newer ways to date through apps and nightclub traffic light events, but it comes down to what you feel most comfortable with! Alternatively, you could even go on a blind date if you’re feeling up to it! Even getting to know people and starting to date other student is a great way to make things more exciting because remember you need a balance of work and play!

10. Learn to Cook

Whether you love or hate the idea of shying away from whipping out another microwave meal for tomorrow’s dinner, learning to cook is an invaluable skill to master and you have to start somewhere so why not while you’re at uni? You could follow a recipe book or try your best to recreate your favourite homemade meals or even make your own recipes up. The possibilities are endless and may just be the healthier option as well as finding a fun new hobby in it! To make things more interesting you could hose your own dinner party with your flatmates, so you can get a second opinion on your own food! This is one of the best ways to enhance your university experience!
