When I first started my journey to a healthy lifestyle, I found it difficult to find recipes and all the ingredients I would need in order to make the meals. I didn’t have enough money to spend on superfoods and those awesome supplements everyone recommends. It took me some time to figure it out but eventually, I came up with some great tips for you! And let me tell you one thing, a healthy lifestyle is easy and all you need is patience and knowledge I will provide you with in a second. 1. Tap Water

I always say ‘Water is life’ and I can’t stress enough the importance of staying hydrated. This is probably the most crucial step you can take to get that healthy lifestyle you want. It does obviously depend on your location but if you have access to clean drinking water – use that tap water then! It will not only save you pennies but you will also contribute to the plastic-free environment and do something great for our planet!

2. Organize Your Fridge

Step number two to a healthy lifestyle – organize your fridge and keep track of what’s in there and what you have in your cupboards too. this is very helpful when you plan your meals in advance, and check if there are any ingredients you will have to buy. It will prevent you from spending money on unnecessary products you already have and will reduce the number of items you toss out.

3. Don’t Shop When You’re Hungry

I’m certain this has happened to you before – you went shopping while being super hungry hand placed every single item imaginable in your basket. This is a follow-up to the rule number two – always make a list of the ingredients and products you wish to purchase while being adamant they’ll be used and ensure you go grocery shopping after a decent meal.

4. Eat Leftovers

Do not waste food! Save it for later, freeze it, share with your friends or flatmates but never throw away! But when you’re on a budget, you may need to think twice before you buy a particular product. You could reduce the amount of meat you consume (it is hella expensive) and get more veggies in return! Good for your body and soul, and for everyone around you! Additionally, frozen fruit and veg is less pricey and contains almost the same nutritional value. This is a great alternative to fresh fruit and vegetables, and it will last for longer!

6. Prepare Your Own Meals

I’m sure you’re aware of this as it is not rocket science – in order to save up while you’re on a tight budget is to make food yourself for yourself! There are so many recipes out there and so much information you can easily find online – just be patient as it takes time! But trust me, it is ridiculously simple! Oh, and easy on takeaways – the food you make yourself is way better for your body and mind then the cheap pre-made meals available in supermarkets!

New year, new me! Interestingly, what most people do at the beginning of new year is they purchase a gym membership to shred fat, get toned and all that jazz! What you need to understand is that you don’t necessarily need to spend hundreds of pounds on your gym membership to soon realize you only went twice a month! Motivation is crucial – it is great to have someone you could share the experience with and motivate one another to push harder and get better! But since you’re tight on money, let me reassure you that a gym membership isn’t everything you need to possess to have that healthy lifestyle. invest in yourself by searching home workouts online and trying to figure out what works best for you.
