5 Simple Techniques To Reduce Anxiety

Anxiety is sadly very common nowadays in people of all ages, especially in people with hectic lifestyles and routines in the big cities. It’s vital to be able to tackle anxiety, reducing its symptoms so you can get a higher quality of life and live it to your full potential. Follow these 5 simple techniques to reduce anxiety.

1. Don’t stress the small things

If what makes you nervous and anxious are the smallest things that aren’t priority or the most important things in your life, it’s time to reassess your goals in life. Maybe you haven’t heard from your friends in a while, and that makes you more stressed than you should be, but perhaps you should focus on what’s most important for you at the moment: Getting that one internship you were after or getting promoted at work. Sometimes friendship can wait, but you life goes first.

2. Stay Active

An active lifestyle has been proven to reduce anxiety. Of course, active in a moderate healthy way. You don’t have to run a marathon, but keeping your body busy will also keep your mind in peace and you won’t be overthinking as a result. Overthinking is the mind’s biggest enemy, it leads to stress , and eventually anxiety. If your lifestyle is too busy to do any extra curricular activity such as going to a yoga class, or taking a pottery or painting class then you might as well take time off from whatever is causing your anxiety.

3. Get essential oils

Essential oils are often used for relaxation these days, you can get them at organic stores. Incense can also do the job but it might be too potent for some people, just rubbing some herbal oils on your forehead and wrists can really help you relax and think better. You can even get ones that you mix in water and drink. You’ll smell great & feet better than ever.

4. Spend less time on social medias

One reason you might be so anxious could be the time you spend on your phone checking posts on Instagram, or on Facebook looking at other people’s profile. The impact these have on us is gigantic, it makes us feel inferior and bad about our lives, which as a result creates more anxiety & depression. If your job involves being on social media for a most of your day, don’t forget to take breaks. Remember , your mental health is as important as physical health.

5. Get a Dog ( or go to the park to pet them all)

As a dog lover I can confirm that getting a pet, especially a dog, can significantly decrease your anxiety levels. If you can’t afford one at the moment, save up for one ( for real) or go out to the park more, where all the doggies hang out. This is easily one of the best techniques to reduce anxiety!
