15 Signs You’re For Real Gay
Are you wondering if you might be for real gay? Like super, dooper Jonathan-from-Queer-Eye gay?
Here are the fifteen signs and symptoms so you can skip the years of confusion and get on with celebrating being gay for girls with the rest of us!
1. Keira Knightley
Do you find actress Keira Knightley ethereal in-and-out of period-piece clothes? Odds are, it has very little do with your fascination with history and lot more to do with the woman herself.
2. Rainbow Clothes
Do you find yourself scrolling through ‘Boohoo.com’ or the online marketplace that is ‘Asos’, and your eye is drawn to bright colours and glitter? Does the entire festival section looks like everyday clothing? Yeah – you might be a little bit gay.
There is definitely something about being Othered by society that makes us want to alienate ourselves in the most fabulous way possible.
3. Cher
In music or in fashion, or in crazy ‘Twitter’ messages to the current POTUS, Cher is an icon in the LGBT community. Ask yourself, how many times is it normal to listen to ‘Believe’, or to google Cher’s bead-and-feathered, 1974 dress?
4. Meryl Streep
The woman, the myth, the legend. Do you ever feel the urge to just worship the ground she walks on? You do? Strange, hm…
5. Mamma Mia!
The song? The movie-musical we watch mostly for Meryl Streep? Who cares! They’re both common denominators of being gay!
6. Power Suits
Sometimes we want to be Blake Lively dressed in black suit, with a white shirt buttoned all the way up to her neck (as seen in ‘A Simple Favour’). Other times, we just wish we could date a woman who can pull of the ultimate power suit.
7. Cats
Okay – it’s a stereotype. But these are all stereotypes, just not without a bit of truth to them. Do felines gravitate towards you? It may be because they are mystic creatures who can sense lesbian energy long before we recognise it in ourselves.
8. Closets
Do you have the urge to just hide in one for a while? Is the world waiting for your reemergence once you’ve put on your glittery shirt? Yeah – you might take that as a hint from yourself.
9. Tan France
You know a little ‘Netflix’ show named ‘Queer Eye’? Out of its ensemble cast, Tan France has a habit of resonating with the lesbians of the universe. It’s hard to pinpoint what exactly it is about him – but if you’re a fan, you might consider that you’re a really, real gay too.
10. Legolas
Okay, he’s just an example – a stand-in for all the pretty boys with long hair that were the gateway crushes of lesbians all around. Take this as a cue to check in with sexuality. If you think the boy with long hair isn’t attractive without the hair itself, chances are you never thought he was attractive in the first place.
11. The L Word
Does ‘The L Word’ make you feel a little bit of something? Do you even watch ‘The L Word’ to begin with? Perhaps you should raise this issue with yourself.
12. Shego
What do Shego from ‘Kim Possible’, the ‘Totally Spies’ girls, and Debbie from ‘The Wild Thornberrys’ have in common? Childhood. Lesbian. Crushes.
13. Winona Ryder
Winona Ryder in ‘Stranger Things’, Winona Ryder in ‘Heathers’; ‘Beetlejuice’, ‘Girl, Interrupted’, ‘Bram Stoker’s Dracula’. Pretty much anything to do with Winona Ryder enamours lesbians.

Do you, or did you ever, have a Tumblr account? While it’s not definitive – it’s at least a giant, red warning sign of approaching sexual awareness.

Hold onto your ‘Carly Rae Jepson’ vinyls, ladies – I’m here to break the news that if you’re a woman dating a woman, there’s a chance you might be for real gay.
And sure, this is list is in jest (mostly – I do have three cats to my name already), but it’s about time we enjoy our sexuality and be comfortable within ourselves! As the badges at your local LGBT Youth Group say – it’s okay to be for real gay!
