15 Signs Your Tinder Date Is Not Going Well

Going on a Tinder date is like playing Russian Roulette. You don’t know what to expect, or if it will be a success. So, here are 15 signs to look out for if your Tinder date is not going well.

1. You want to cancel your date

It’s normal to feel nervous before a date but if you find yourself resisting the urge to run away screaming it’s never a good sign.

2. They don’t look like their Tinder profile

You discover to your horror that they don’t look like their Tinder profile. Sure, we’re all guilty of choosing photos with a filter here and an edit there to post on dating apps but you still feel like you’re being catfished.

3. They are rude to the staff

A sure sign of a Tinder match gone wrong is if you’re at a restaurant or bar and they’re rude to the staff. You don’t need someone with a superiority complex in your life. Better to just cut and run.

4. You don’t want to be spotted by your friends

It’s a bad Tinder date if you suggest a bar that you know your friends won’t ever go to. It’s not that you’re embarrassed to be seen with your date, it’s just that you know your friends won’t let you live it down.

5. You escape from your Tinder date at every opportunity

You escape to the bathroom and find yourself contemplating crawling out of the window. Sense prevails but you still take an extra few minutes to scroll on Instagram before returning to your date.

6. They straight up ignore you

They spend more time on their phone than on you. That’s just rude.

7. Your Tinder date moans about their problems all evening

It’s a fail when you wonder if you’ve been roped into a free counselling session because they spend the whole evening moaning about themselves, their exes, and their problems.

8. They ask you to play drinking games

If it wasn’t awkward enough they ask if you want to play Never Have I Ever. It’s two of you and you’re basically strangers, so no?

9. The conversation leaves you clutching at straws

An obvious sign that your Tinder date is not going well is if the conversation is so forced that you begin to clutch at straws…quite literally the straws in your glass…because what else can you do? The awkwardness is excruciating.

10. You have nothing in common

Despite your Tinder conversations, you have nothing in common with your date. For the safety of all involved, it’s better to sit in silence rather than attempt a heated debate that won’t go well.

You hold hands briefly with your date in a feeble attempt at romance but you find yourself leaning away from them…

The signature of a bad Tinder date goodbye is a hug instead of a kiss except it’s more of a stiff one-armed embrace like two clothes hangers colliding for a brief moment before dashing away.

14. You’re relieved when you’re out of their company

You breathe a sigh of relief when you’re finally free to go home. Alone.

15. You never speak to each other again

As if like an unspoken agreement, you both never message each other again.
