7 Signs That You’re Dating A Keeper

The dating life is hard. Especially when you’re stuck in that dreaded cycle, a cycle filled with immature men with commitment issues. If you’re fortunate enough you may catch a lucky break and meet someone with potential. Here are seven signs that you’ve snagged yourself a keeper.

1. You can communicate

If you can communicate rather than pointing fingers at each other in an argument, then it’s a definite sign that you’re dating a keeper. Communication is such a huge part of a relationship and it’s something that can make or break a partnership. If you can talk things out with each other in a civil way, and come out with greater understanding, or a compromise, then this is a relationship you can get behind.

2. Playing games? No thank you.

We’re over men who play games. So over it. It’s honestly a breath of fresh air once you meet someone that doesn’t play games and string along your emotions. This means no ghosting, no deliberately ignoring messages, and no beating around the bush. If the person you’re dating doesn’t play games in the relationship, it means that you’re lucky enough to have found someone that is mature, genuinely likes you and takes the relationships seriously.

3. He has empathy and understanding

Learning to understand each other and get to know what the other person is like is an essential part of a relationship that allows you to grow together. It’s important to know what your partner is like so that you can understand them on a deeper level. If you’re dating someone that’s self-absorbed in their own world and not willing to indulge in yours, then please run for the hills and find yourself a better partner. Your man should experience all your feelings and emotions and be able to understand your point of view, and if he doesn’t, he should be willing to listen to your explanation. Of course, you should do the same for him because after all, a relationship takes two.

4. There’s space in the relationship

Being in a relationship can make you feel like your obligated to do things together and spend as much time with each other as possible – but it doesn’t have to be that way. Just because you’re in a relationship, it doesn’t mean that you’re not your own person anymore, and this applies for both of you. It’s important that there’s still space in your relationship for either of you to pursue your own hobbies, interests and spend time with other social circles. You know you’re dating a keeper if your partner has a passion for things outside the relationship too, rather than pursuing you all the time. It shows that he’s an interesting individual that’s confident in the relationship.

5. He tries to get invested in your interests

It’s cool to date someone that has similar interests and hobbies. If you don’t share all the same interests, it can still be a good sign if he actively shows interest in the things you like. This could be asking questions about it, trying out a hobby or doing something you like together. This shows that you’re dating a keeper because he tries to understand you even more.

6. He doesn’t act out on jealousy

Yes, jealousy can be pretty hot. It’s flattering to know that someone likes you enough, so much that they want to want to keep you all to themselves. However, there are limits to how “attractive” jealousy can be. If you’re dating someone that doesn’t snap at the mere thought of you going out with friends or being around male company, then you’re dating a keeper. This is important as it shows he’s secure in the relationship and trusts you enough to not let insecurities get in the way.

7. He gives you that look

You know, that look. The look when they stare into your eyes and you just know that there’s a special connection between the two of you. And when you see it, it’s the best feeling in the world.

Are you dating a keeper? What’s your partner like? What are some small things they do that make you think “yep, they’re the one”. Share your thoughts and let us know in the comments below!
