Aimlessly scrolling through hundreds of Netflix series trying to find a binge-worthy show is time consuming and soul destroying. Who has the time or energy for that?! So, we’ve come up with 5 best shows that you absolutely need to binge watch this summer – and trust us, you won’t regret it!
This mystery, drama, fantasy, science fiction series will have you literally sat on the edge of your seat throughout and unable to not watch every single episode in one go. The series depicts a young womans life after a 7 year disappearance, whilst having consistent flashbacks to the disappearance itself. However, all is not what it seems and you’ll have constant curve balls of twists and turns thrown at you every episode. This is absolutely one of the shows you need to binge this summer.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably already heard about the true story depicted through the Netflix series, Dirty John. The show retells the heartbreaking and chilling story of Debra Newall and how she and her families lives got turned upside down by the handsome, charismatic John Meehan. As a side note, I’d recommend watching Dirty John the show first to gauge the visual representations of the real people and true story whilst also adding a dash of theatre; then go on to watch the actual documentary with interviews from Debra herself. If you haven’t already, throw your pj’s on, grab some snacks and be prepared to get a few goosebumps because this show is one hell of an emotional journey.
Westworld is one of the all-time, most binge-worthy series ever to have graced our TV screens. The completely unique and original concept is nothing like you will ever have seen before and although confusing at times, it’s easily one of the most jaw-dropping, gripping series ever created. The futuristic amusement park is a playground for the rich to do what they want when they want; there are no laws to stop them. The lawless land is used to feed peoples wildest fantasies including brutally murdering and torturing the parks ‘hosts’. Westworld is definitely not for the faint-hearted, but if a little fantasy drama is up your street, then this is the one for you.
Turn Up Charlie is a brand new Netflix series starring the one and only Luther legend, Idris Elba. The UK heartthrob plays an aspiring DJ who gets roped into being a full-time baby sitter by his so-called best friends. The entire series can be started and finished in just 4 hours and is a super lighthearted, fun-loving and easy going show; ideal for a summer night. Turn Up Charlie is undoubtedly one of the shows you need to binge this summer, whilst also being easy on the eyes. Perfect right?!
The notoriously incredible, addictive show, Peaky Blinders, is simply a classic. Based at the start of the 1920s following the despair and aftermath of the Great War, a group of cheeky, unapologetically criminal brothers and their family set out to become one of the most powerful gangs of their time. However, Tommy, the brother who runs the whole show, has other plans in mind, away from a life of crime and has dreams of establishing legitimate businesses. The family of Brummies will draw you in episode by episode and give you an insight into the lives of families battling with crime, returning soldiers and newly minted revolutions.
