5 Shoe Styles You Need To Try This Summer
Leave your boots at the back of your wardrobe, because summer is here and there are plenty of stylish new shoe trends you should be trying. From chic 70s inspired platforms to casual flip-flops, this summer there are so many different shoe styles to try. Here are just five of the trendiest shoes at the moment!
1. Heeled Flops
Flip flops have been a trend every summer for as long as we can remember, but this year they have a chic new twist. Heeled flip flops are everywhere in stores right now and are super versatile. With just an equal balance of casual daytime look and a more formal going out style, heeled flops look great with anything, from denim shorts and a T-shirt to a silky slip dress. Plus, they’re way more comfortable than heels and great if you’re tall and don’t want to add too much more height, as the heel is low and subtle.

2. Sporty Sandals
The ultra-casual but still chic sporty look is not going anywhere as we transition from winter to summer. Your feet will love you for trying sporty sandals. They have been popularised by the catwalks of Prada, and are the most comfortable shoe you could wear – especially during summer as they let your feet breathe in the heat. The 90s inspired velcro straps and simple design make them easy to pair with any look throughout the season. You don’t need a Prada budget either -Tommy Hilfiger has a pair that’s currently half price.

3. Dad Shoes
Another trend that has been around for a while and isn’t budging. The super edgy ‘dad’ shoe is still a summer must-have. As seen in Roberto Cavalli and Balenciaga, who arguably started the craze, this once tomboyish trainer has emerged as a shoe that every girl can wear and look amazing in. Pair with jeans, shorts, or dress them up with a midi skirt and t-shirt – no matter what you wear, these shoes are so popular right now they will look fab. Go extra sporty and wear them with gym socks! There’s a multitude of colours to choose from, but you can’t go wrong with classic white!

4. Socks
The runways of Anna Sui and Marc Jacobs have featured this adorable new trend, which used to be a crime against fashion. This season, jazz up your favourite pair of heels with a pair of socks. Not only will you be more comfortable, but you’ll also be chic and coordinated as you pick a colour that matches your outfit. Just make sure you go for heel socks to avoid that school girl look. If you want to go for that, feel free – but be careful if you’re petite as it may make your legs look shorter. This look works best with shoes with either a T bar or conventional ankle strap!

5. Pretty Pastels
This season it’s all about colour, from neon to bright white. But pretty pastel colours, such as mint green and lavender lilac, have been seen in the shoe styles of Kate Spade, Tom Ford and Carolina Herrera. Lighter colours are not only trendier for the spring and summer months, but are also a stylish way to finish an outfit with shoes. They create the illusion of a longer frame and compliment practically any skin tone. Try and create multiple trends with one pair of shoes by opting for pastel coloured dad shoes or heeled flops – that way you can try more than one of the styles on the list and not have to spend too much money!
