Located less than 20 minutes away from Wolverhampton city centre, The Black Country Living Museum, upon arriving allows you to immediately be transcended back to Victorian Times. You can explore the original period shops and houses while meeting an array of characters along the way in this open-air museum. As you uncover the past walking down the cobbled streets why not have some authentic fish and chips? You can even step foot foot inside a working replica of the worlds very first working steam engine.
Previously known as “People’s Park” West Park is definitely that. Scattered amongst the spacious greenery, the park houses tennis courts, chalet tearooms, a boating lake, a children’s play area and a bowling green. From the time you had your first kiss under a tree to the time you walked your dog amongst the vibrant shrubbery and flowers, memories are scattered throughout this park and is a perfect setting for those summer days.
What’s better than on a warm summers day, driving to a farm and picking some fruit and vegetables? With the sun beaming down on you as you suck on a ripe strawberry (or a couple) Essington Fruit Farm is an award winning farm shop and tearoom located in just 15 minutes away from Wolverhampton City Centre. With crops from strawberries to onions to leeks to gooseberries the wide variety the farm has to offer is a great way to support an independent business as well as getting authentic and fresh vegetables and fruits. In October it’s perfect for pumpkin picking where you can get a tractor to visit further out fields.
From fluffy and delicate pancakes and waffles to moist and rich slices of cake, the little desert shop is a must see spot in Wolverhampton. Walking up to the entrance the smell of freshly baked waffles linger in the air and setting foot inside, private booths are neatly arranged. With such a wide variety on offer it’ll be hard to choose just one dish!
When visiting Wolverhampton why not check it’s it’s renowned canal route. Taking a gentle stroll amongst greenery and a series of barges, bridges and locks you can find yourself on the Birmingham canal. It’s a perfect setting for an alternative day out for the family or even taking your dog for a walk.
Located next to East Park, this greyhound racing track is a must see sight. The stadium features private suites, a restaurant and a number of bars. With non-stop entertainment at the weekends, the stadium is perfect for group bookings, whether that’s a hen party, birthday celebration or a good old night out!
Located in the city centre, the Grand Theatre is a highly renowned and admired venue. With its intimate and Victorian inspired three-tiered auditorium, The Grand Theatre has hosted a variety of touring productions from ballet shows to musicals to concerts.
One of Britains busiest racecourses, Wolverhampton Racecourse is filled with family friendly entertainment. With many bars, restaurants and hotels located nearby it’s a great venue to host weddings, parties etc. Its a great way to spend a day out, watching the horses run wild in the wind!
