10 Secret Spots In Norfolk Totally Worth Checking Out

Have you ever thought about visiting Norfolk but you’re not sure if it’s your cup of tea? We’ve compiled a list of secret spots in Norfolk that are totally worth looking out for when you visit. There’s something for everyone down here in Norfolk.

Elm Hill

Elm Hill is a quaint cobbled street in Norwich with buildings dating back to the Tudor times. There are plenty of cosy tea rooms and even a bear shop! This street was also used to film the movie Stardust in 2007. This is the perfect spot to get that Instagram shot you desperately want.

The Lanes

The Lanes in Norwich is a long street of shops consisting of cafes, vegan takeaways, beauty and make up shops and hippie shops! This is the most in place to visit when coming to Norwich because it’s where all the vegans and hippies flock to for food and clothes. The Grosvenor is a chip shop on the Lanes and the owner even won an award for best VisitEngland Superstar in 2017. They serve amazing chips and the owners are even nicer!

Looses Emporium

Looses Emporium, located on Magdalen Street is a hidden gem in this fine city. Full of vintage finds and the weirdest furniture you’ve ever seen, you’re bound to find something you’ll love. They sell anything from retro clothes to vintage ornaments.

The Norwich Cathedral

The Norwich Cathedral is dedicated to the Holy and Undivided Trinity. Construction began in 1096 and was eventually completed in 1145. It’s a tranquil spot in the heart of Norwich and has pretty cottages and gardens. There’s even a school located next to it. It’s the perfect place to have lunch and take in the incredible views of the spire.

The Arcade

The Arcade is a beautifully covered shopping street in the heart of Norwich. Not only are the shops pretty, but the architecture is gorgeous. There are plenty of coffee shops, such as Marmalade’s and a sweet Macaroon shop. Digby’s is also a great spot for sweet lovers and Langley’s is perfect for little ones.

River Wensum

The River Wensum runs through Norwich and has some beautiful sites along the way. Cow Tower is another great place to visit and there are plenty of old ruins to find. The river also goes past Magdalen Street where there’s an array of colourful houses and pubs. Sitting by St Pull’s Ferry is perfect for a picnic in the summer.

Eaton Park

There’s plenty to do at Eaton park and there’s even a café and pavilion. There’s a rose garden for you to snap those Instagram shots and a skate park if you’re into sports. If you’re in the mood to get crazy, you can play crazy golf or football on the green. It’s a wonderful place to sit and relax in the sun.

Adam And Eve Pub

The Adam and Eve pub, located next to the picturesque river, is claimed to be one of the oldest pubs in the city. It was used as a brewhouse and was used by the workmen who were building the cathedral nearby. It’s claimed to be haunted and there have been several accounts of ghosts appearing there.

Heydon

Heydon, located in Norfolk, is a small village which is mostly isolated. It has some gorgeous cottages and pretty houses to take photos of. Heydon is mentioned in the Doomsday Book as “High-Down” and used to have its own market. It’s been used in films such as Riders, The Woman in White and the Monty Python’s Flying Circus sketch.

Great Yarmouth

Great Yarmouth is located on the coast of Norfolk and has its own pleasure beach full of small rides and water rides. It has mini golf, a Sea Life centre, cinema and arcades. It may be run down but it’s a great place to go for a day out or weekend by the sea. You could play some Pirate golf or lay on the beach and catch some sun. There’s plenty to do and it’s only a half hour train ride away from Norwich’s city centre.
