8 Satisfying Things To Do With Your Partner When You Both Have Busy Schedules

When you and your partner find yourself, as we all inevitably do at some point or other in life, unable to find as much time for each other as you used to, it’s easy to fall into unfulfilling habits that don’t make the most of the time you have together. ‘My partner and I’s vice is binge watching dramas. It’s so high up on our list of favourite things to do when we’re exhausted that we have begun to catch ourselves doing it even when we do have the time and energy to do something more. Here is a list of non-passive activities and gestures you can incorporate into your lives this 2019 that’ll relax and satisfy you both.

1. Why Not Take A Bath Together?

Light some candles, put on some chilled out music and make sure you have plenty of bubbles. This is the perfect way for the two of you to relax your muscles, unwind and chat in an intimate space that’s far away, hopefully, from any flatmates, family and anything work related. Here’s a tip: make it a rule not to speak about anything business or domestic. Use this time to focus solely on the two of you, and the two of you alone.

2. Or Cook Together

Instead of spending money on going out for a meal and wasting time getting ready, why not open a bottle of wine, put on some music and cook your favourite meal together. It doesn’t need to be anything flashy, but if you’re able to pick something up on your way home, why not experiment with some aphrodisiacs? Cooking is a fantastic way to relax and a fun and creative way to unwind with your partner.

3. If You Have Access To Bikes, Cycle Somewhere Quiet

Nothing can be a more satisfying thing to do with your partner than going on a refreshing bike ride. If you don’t have bikes yourselves, most cities have some sort of free service you can look into. Having a busy schedule doesn’t mean you can’t make time for a little bit of exercise. Even getting just 30 minutes can greatly reduce stress. Maybe take a route that leads somewhere quiet with a basket of food. It’s much easier to see things in a different light when you’re away from it all.

4. If You Don’t Have Access To Bikes, Walk!

The same goes for walking as cycling. Everybody needs to remind themselves from time to time that the world moves at many different paces – not just the fast stride of your busy schedules.  Tuning into nature and going for a quiet stroll is one of the most simple yet satisfying things you can do with your partner. And the best thing about it is you can do it absolutely anywhere.

5. Buy A Cheap Massage Book And Practice Together

Fancy staying indoors but know you’ll be battling the urge to finish that Netflix drama?  This tip is a great way of reconnecting with your partner and learning a new skill that can relieve tension, stress and bring you closer together. It doesn’t matter if you’re terrible at first, it’s all part of the fun and intensifies the satisfaction as you get better. And besides, you never know where it may lead…

6, Listen To A Playlist You Both Love

Open a bottle of wine, get comfortable and put your favourite playlist on. If you don’t have one, why not take the opportunity to make one together? If wine is the nectar of the Gods and music is food for the soul, you’re in for a pretty good evening.

7. Make Breakfast In Bed

Even if your busy schedules don’t allow for you to eat together, remind your partner how special you find them by treating them to breakfast in bed. They’ll get to feel appreciated and pampered by you and you’ll get the satisfaction of knowing you gave them a fantastic start to the day.

8. Leave Notes For Each Other And Little Treats

We here at Society19 know that at the end of the day it can still sometimes be impossible to put half an hour aside for things to do with your partner. Sometimes it can just be impossible to see each other. So why not leave little notes on the fridge? (Or inside it). Or sneak little letters into their bag? It doesn’t matter what you do, just so long as they know you’re thinking about them.
