As we all know breakfast is the first and the most important meal of the day and hence we should always try to make it a point not to miss it. It can be a bit difficult to have a full and hearty breakfast if you have a busy start to the day, so just to make it a little easier, read on about 7 sandwich filler ideas for a healthy breakfast.

1. Chicken and Avocado Sandwich

This sandwich is not only easy to make but scrumptious and delicious too. You only need a few ingredients and so can be quickly done. All you need is 2 slices of wholemeal bread or any bread that you prefer, chopped cooked chicken breast, chopped squares of avocado and a tablespoon of light mayonnaise. You can also add slices of tomatoes and onions. This sandwich is so filling, that u you would not crave for any unhealthy snacks.

2.Tuna and Sweetcorn Sandwich

This is my absolute favorite, it is quick, easy and absolutely delish. It is a perfect 4 ingredient recipe to start your day with. You need canned tuna drained, boiled sweetcorn, 1 tbsp low-fat mayo, and multigrain bread. You can also add other fresh vegetables like grated carrots, bell peppers, and tomatoes to make it an even healthier option. And for those who do not like mayo can substitute it with greek yogurt which is high in protein and super healthy for you.

3. Egg and Watercress Sandwich

I have not heard of many people who do not like this sandwich filler. Instead of using mayo I tried using the low-fat greek yogurt and it was just perfect. I wonder why I had not tried it before. It adds to the creaminess giving it a lovely texture and balance. All you need is 2 boiled eggs, separate the yolks from the whites and add the chopped egg whites into a bowl of watercress, in a separate bowl add the yolks, 2 tbsp greek yogurt, salt, pepper and 1 tbsp of whole grain mustard and mix well. Add this to the bowl of egg white and watercress, mix well and use this sandwich filler on multigrain bread.

4.Spinach and Egg Cheese Sandwich

It could not get any simpler, this easy 3 ingredient breakfast sandwich is packed with nutrients and absolutely delicious. In a pan wilt a handful of spinach leaves, then add 1 beaten egg, salt, and pepper to taste and lastly sprinkle light cheddar cheese. Place it between your toasted sandwich bread and Enjoy!

5. Cheese, Cucumber, Tomato, and Pickle Sandwich

As the name suggests you only need these four power-packed ingredients and 2 slices of wholemeal bread to enjoy a delicious and healthy breakfast. First spread a layer of sandwich pickle and then arrange the cucumber, tomato, and cheese in whichever order you like, yes it is that simple.

6.Veg Club Sandwich

With a club sandwich, you can add as many or little veggie ingredients you prefer. You can add all your favorite veggies into one big super healthy sandwich. You can also prepare the sandwich on the previous night to avoid the early morning hassle to do so. In my veg club sandwich, I smear the bread with mint yogurt sauce, I then top it with thick-cut slices of boiled potatoes and tomatoes, I add on another slice of bread with sauteed cabbage, capsicum, and onions and the place another slice of bread smeared with yogurt sauce.

7. Chicken Mayo Sandwich

I simply love the chicken mayo sandwich, I know it might not sound really healthy but you can always use the low-fat mayo which is a little healthier. Just boil or saute the chicken with a little oil. Shred the chicken, add 1 tbsp mayo, salt, and pepper. I also like to add shredded cabbage and carrot to my chicken mayo sandwich to give that crunch.
