5 Salads You Need To Make Right Now
I love salads! I used to have them quite frequently, almost being everyday! A lot of people think salads are boring and tasteless but alas, this is not the case! Salads don’t always have to be full of greens either. There are so many different said types out there for people to try!
So here we have it, five salads you need to make right now!
1. Quinoa Salad
Quinoa is a great substitute for rice if you want something a little light and not as heavy. It’s such a good food group as it can be the base of the sale or just something that is mixed within the other goods. You can pair quinoa with anything but a great recipe is to have the quinoa as your base and add some roasted sweet potatoes, sultanas, pears, apples, and broccoli.
Not only is this a great main meal, but also great for a side server to go with something like chicken and any type of meat. You can also add things like pomegranate, avocado, tomatoes and more! A great recipe below from cookie and Kate has a great quinoa salad if you want something fresh and delicious!
2. Couscous Salad
This is my absolute favourite salad at the moment and I love eating it as a side dish along with my main meal. I make the couscous, then add roasted vegetables to the mixture which include sweet potato, potato, broccoli, red and yellow capsicum (I add heaps of these as it brings a nice sweet taste), carrots, and cauliflower!
All the vegetables add such great flavour to the couscous and are super nutritious and delicious! This is definitely a must-try salad!
3. Mango Avocado salad
If you’re a fan of fresh sweet mango and a nice soft avocado, then this one will be sure to tickle your fancy. It’s so easy! Just cut up the mango into slices along with the avocado, and add some macadamia nuts. Then all you need to do is mix it together and add some freshly squeezed lemon juice if you want more flavour.
Whenever we have people over my mum will always make this side and there will never be any leftover.
4. Beautiful Garden salad
You can have this salad as a main or side meal and make it super nutritious and delicious. Many people underestimate the power of a garden salad but that’s probably because they have been making it wrong. Add flavour! Add vegetables! Don’t be boring and just have lettuce.
For the base, I add chopped up iceberg lettuce and mix that with a bag of mixed lettuce such as spinach, rocket, and many other green leaves. I then add chopped up carrots, celery, cucumber, snap peas and beans, tomatoes, and mix them through. After that, I add some chopped up salami, cheese cubes, and corn on the top.
Then, all I do to finish off the beautiful salad is add two boiled eggs on top for people who like the extra protein! To make it more of a main meal, add tuna on top, and some potatoes.
5. Greek Salad
You can never go wrong with a good Greek salad! It’s easy, and super delicious! Add some tomatoes, cucumber, and feta and mix them into the bowl. To top it off, add some chopped up red onions and garnish with some salt and pepper. You can even add some olives if you want more flavour!
It’s so good and so easy to make!
