Everyone thinks their school is the best, and they’re entitled to their opinion. Swansea has great career opportunities, support, programs and more to help all of their students achieve their goals. I am so happy I chose Swansea. Keep reading for 20 reasons why Swansea is the greatest school on Earth!
‘Dream it and do it’! The careers advice and guidance est tres bien. Not only are there many opportunities to explore your interests. The careers department help you practically in achieving your goals e.g all year in industry students must complete a compulsory employabilty skills module, employability workshops and more.
Many of the ‘fancy’ facilities in Swansea can be found on the newly constructed Bay campus site. Which has top notch research labs, innovative buildings and very comfortable student accomodation.
Inclusiveness can be found in any society. There is a real sense of family in the societies which are run by passionate students.
The Wales national pool, located in the university sports village provides first class facilities. The pool has even been used as a training centre for athletes who competed in the London Olympics (2012).
Help is everywhere!! If you lack confidence in a certain area of study, don’t worry because help is everywhere!! Workshops covering all kinds of courses are run. There are also helpful lecturers and seminar staff who are happy to help.
If clubbing is not your thing or you would like to try something new then don’t worry as Swansea university has a range of events for all during the freshers fortnight!! From beach bbq’s, open mic nights, day trips to the freshers’ formal.
There are many chances to work within the university e.g The Core, the JC’s bar and many more roles.
I’ve never had a single bad professor at Swansea! They are always there for you if you need them.
Some of the years highlights include, the Welsh varsity challenege were our home sports teams play Cardiff.
As well as varsity some of the years high points include the festival style summer ball which attracts big act headliners like Professor Green (2013) and has many attractions such as rides and other entertaining acts.
The JC’s bar and divas night club are both located on Singleton campus. The Swansea Union Social ents team and societies regularly have events at either venues and these are not to be missed!
Whatever suits you. There are opportunities to write, broadcast on radio, record on SU-TV or roles for working behind the scenes, your options are many.
The volunteering opportunities are endless and very rewarding. Through the discovery organistation there are many chances to help out in the community. Volunteering roles can also be found within the uni eg subject/college rep or part time officer.

The campus catering is of a high standard, one example being ‘The Core’ which is a brand new, modern, food court-style dining space located on Bay campus.
The Swansea Students Union Team are very proactive when it comes to social media so, you’ll always be updated.
The university is warm and accepting to all. Which includes people of different faiths, races, abilities etc.
If you did not make the grades you expected but still desire to take your chosen course, there is no need to despair as Swansea is here!! The university offers various foundation year schemes and support for international students for example, to help break down language barriers.
The people are warm and welcoming and the environment is very aesthetically pleasing. What more could you want?
