8 Reasons We Should All Follow Jameela Jamil On Instagram
Jameela Jamil is important. She’s an unproblematic queen on a quest to banish detox teas, body shaming and poor self-esteem that our capitalist society instils into young people. She isn’t afraid to put anyone who objects this notion under the firing line and usually manages to win the feud.
Here are eight reasons why we should all follow Jameela Jamil on Instagram.
1. She publicly embraces her stretch marks and says no to airbrushing
She refers to the stretch marks on her boobs as babe marks and refuses to be airbrushed in any photos.
In her Instagram post caption, she stated:
“Say no to airbrushing.
“Pores and lines and spots and dry lips are something kids need to see so they don’t grow up thinking there is something fucking wrong with them. I want to look like a person, not an emoji.
Thanks for never retouching me @selashiloniphoto ps. I’m aware I still have fairly clear skin these days. But it’s sad to know a magazine would 100 % blur all of my little lines and “imperfections” because they would see this as “off-putting” because they don’t like human beings.”

2. Her feud with the Kardashian’s
Not only did she urge the Kardashian women to “check their moral compasses, because they appear to be broken,” she completely called them out for selling detox teas and promoting unhealthy diet tips.
The Kardashians are known for selling detox teas to their young and impressionable followers on Instagram.
Jamil argued the Kardashians they don’t even use the tea’s themselves. Instead, they have detritions, personal trainers and a private gym to work out in, which isn’t overly accessible for most people.
3.The creation of iweigh
She calls iweigh her revolution against shame. Jamil created a platform that encourages women to believe that they are much more than how much they physically weigh.
4.Her personal battle with eating disorders
She has always been open about the change she wants to bring in mainstream media. Jamil really isn’t afraid to call out irresponsible celebrities and asks them to simply do better.
“I am so sick of the lies. I was so riddled with eating disorders when I was young.
“I listened to irresponsible celebrities and bought all these bad products and followed their TERRIBLE and toxic diet tips for how they maintained the tiny weight they were… and I fucked up my metabolism and digestive system for life.
“I damaged my fertility, I was consumed and mentally ill. I was obsessed and didn’t eat a meal for over three years as a growing teen. I am not going to stop until we teach people to be better allies to women and stop selling this not at all medically sound shit and rhetoric to us.”
5.This extremely honest depiction of what that detox tea will actually do
Let’s face it, posting this picture on Instagram for her 1.8 million followers to see in order to take a stand against detox teas was incredibly bold, brave and important.
“10-year challenge. Because this is roughly how long you spend on the toilet when you drink laxative “detox” teas… #howharddiddetoxteashityourbumhole”
6. She has a voice that she isn’t afraid to use and will not be silenced
In an interview with channel four, she stated that the capitalist society we will in is ultimately “selling us self-consciousness.”

7. She takes representation very seriously
Jameela Jamil is part of Disney’s brand new Indian-inspired series. Her character is a royal detective called Mira and she stated that she is particularly proud to play this role because this series has “a smart girl lead.”
Not only that, but she reminds her followers to be proud and comfortable in their skin and shared this on Instagram with the hashtag #brownandbeautiful.
8. She’s a feminist
“Don’t let them tell you-you’re annoying, unlikeable, difficult, problematic, or stepping out of your place. They’re just afraid of you.
“They are relying on female conditioning to be obedient and liked.”
Let’s face it, Jameela Jamil is a straight-up Queen. What do you think about her? Let us know in the comments below!
