Cigarette butts thrown onto pavements can be extremely harmful to the animals that find them thinking that they’re food. Furthermore, it takes cigarette butts anywhere from 18 months to 10 years to decompose. During this period of time, the filters are still full of tar and nicotine, which is toxic to animals.
