At university open day you want to find out all the information possible on the experience at the university and the facilities that it provides. You want to know all the nitty-gritty details which may affect you as a student. In order to get the answers that you want though, you have to remember to ask the right questions. Is this course going to be intense/Are there deadlines every week?
If your course is going to be intense it’s something you’ll want to know beforehand because if it isn’t for you then it will allow you with some time to change it.
Do I need to buy books?
Depending on how heavily reading led your course is, you may need to purchase books and knowing beforehand will allow you to put some money aside in order to buy them.
Where is the closest library to the campus?
You will spend a lot of time in the library depending on your course and instead of having to buy all your books you may be able to take out some of them.
Is it cheaper to stay on campus or live in accommodation just outside of the campus?
You’ll want to know the cost of living in your new area. if you can save money you should because then you have money to put towards other things.
Are there people that I can talk to if I am struggling at university?
Sometimes the pressure gets to you at university and it is good to be able to talk to somebody when you find yourself struggling, so knowing that there is a place you can go and talk to someone will put you at some ease.
How local is the town to the campus?
Knowing how far you’ll need to travel to get to the town will give you a rough idea of where you’ll want to live. Whether it be closer to the town for food purposes or closer to the campus if the town isn’t too far away.
What are the transport links like?
Transport is essential for getting around, so knowing the transport links is vital to get from A to B. You should check how often trains and buses run and from what times and if there is a university bus.
