20 Places To Visit At The University Of Leeds
Every university student wants to go and see as much of the university as they possibly can during their time as a student. If you’re stuck for things to do, or just want to do some exploring in your free period, here are twenty places to visit at the University of Leeds.
1. Blackwell Bookshop
I always love coming here if I had a break from work. They always had three for two deals when I was down there from a great selection of books.
2. Clothworkers hall
This is the place where a lot of music concerts are held. They always hold a lunchtime concert every Friday throughout the academic term. If you want to listen some music and have lunch to spare on Friday, this is a great thing to visit.
3. The pond by the Roger Stevens building
There is a lovely pond at university where you can sit and unwind by. It’s a great place to visit if you need a break or just want the chance to see the ducks.
4. Old bar
This is a great bar at university if its been a long day. They serve great food and have a quiz every Thursday if you’re looking for a cheap but good place to gather with friends.
5. Parkinson building
This is one of the libraries at the university and its so beautiful to work in. They usually have several events that take place here. If you’re looking for somewhere to sit for lunch, the steps right outside are always great place to sit on a sunny day.
6. Allotment garden
Full of growing plants, this small garden is a lovely place to walk around and admire.
7. Laidlaw library
Out of all the libraries here, this one was my favourite. It’s a modern library full of places to sit and work at if you need a good place to study.
8. Church Leeds
Although it looks like a small church on the outside, its full of amazing events to go to on a great night out.
9. Common ground café
There are many cafes to try at the university but this one is my favourite. It’s a colourful café full of great food and atmosphere. From their soups to their shakes, it’s a great place to eat at.
10. Farmers market
On Mondays, there is a great market that sells great food outside of the student union. If you’re trying to be more environmentally friendly or want to try something new, this is the perfect place to go.
11.Brotherton gallery
This gallery is filled with great public events, including the libraries special collections of literature.
12.Stanley and Audrey Burton gallery
Another great gallery filled of contemporary exhibitions and artistic works. It’s in the centre of the university and is free to get into. Perfect if you want to explore what the university has to offer.
13.Museum of the History of Science, Technology and Medicine
If you prefer history, this museum is perfect for this. There are many lectures you can attend to if you’re interested in learning more.
14.The Edge gym
This state of the ark gym is full of equipment and classes to attend if you want to get fitter this year. They have many discounts across the year just for students if your tight for cash too.
15.The Edit Room
This lovely little café was one of the first places I went to when I visited the university and it’s a lovely place to unwind when you need a break from studying.
16.Stage@leeds
This lovely stage is always filled with events for theatre and art lovers across the university and is the place to watch new pieces of work.
17.Workshop Theatre
Another amazing place for works of theatre. This venue is part of Leeds Inspired and has several events throughout Leeds throughout the year.
18.Terrace
This outdoor terrace is a great place to eat at when the sun is out, plus they also do 2 for 1 on cocktails every Thursday. Perfect when you’ve had a long day.
19.Riley Smith Theatre
Full of performances run by students, its another great place to visit if you want to watch a great show.
20.Stylus
Home to the famous Fruity, it’s the place on campus for live gigs and nights out.
