6 Places To Get Boozy Afternoon Tea In London

How do you improve a delicious, traditional English afternoon tea at a classy venue? By adding alcohol, of course! Here are 6 great places to get boozy afternoon tea in London. You can enjoy your jam and cream fix and get boozy at the same time.

Afternoon Tea at Fortnum and Mason, £61.50pp

When it’s served in a place called the Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon, you know that afternoon tea is going to be extraordinary… and when it comes to tea, Fortnum and Mason never disappoints. Purists will love the menu, which is utterly classic: rare breed hen’s egg sandwiches, ham and mustard, fruit scones served with Somerset clotted cream and a variety of delicious Fortnum and Mason preserves, all served alongside some of the best tea in England. The price covers the full afternoon tea plus a glass of champagne.

Tipsy Tea at Mr. Fogg’s Residence, £40pp

Make sure you take your camera to Mr. Fogg’s Residence! This afternoon tea spot is simply brimming with Victorian accouterments – including unicycles that hang from the ceiling – and the food is equally quirky. Strict traditionalists need not apply, as sandwiches are served with a selection of cakes rather than scones, and instead of standard tea, Mr. Fogg’s serves  ‘tipsy teapots’ full of mouthwatering tea-infused cocktails, made with either spirits or champagne. Afternoon tea with a single tipsy teapot is £40pp, but bottomless teapots of spirited tea (£62pp) and champagne tea (£72pp) are available for the seriously boozy.

Skyline Afternoon Tea, Radio Rooftop Bar, £55pp

The Radio Rooftop Bar serves afternoon tea with a contemporary edge. With a menu that offers compressed watermelon sandwiches and liquid nitro fruit bursts, this is a far cry from traditional afternoon teas, but it’s equally delicious. Food is served with the option of classic champagne or a selection of cocktails, and the Rooftop Bar also boasts unbeatable views of the Shard, the London Eye, Big Ben and St Paul’s Cathedral. One of the great places to get boozy afternoon tea in London with a great view too!

Gin & Jam Afternoon Tea, Hush Mayfair, £45pp

This sophisticated afternoon tea replaces the traditional accompaniment of fizz with England’s second most iconic drink – gin. Hush’s Gin, distilled in a London boutique, is served in exquisite cocktails with a series of artisan jams designed to enhance its flavour. The food at Hush is elegant and classic, and the decor charming. This exclusive treat is available for one month only – the 1st to the 30th of April 2018 – so don’t miss it! How can you choose between all these great places to get boozy afternoon tea in London!

Seymour’s Parlour Afternoon Tea, Zetter Townhouse, £40.50pp (cocktails) or £43pp (fizz)

For those who like simple but excellent afternoon teas in sumptuous locations should consider a trip to the Zetter Townhouse! Refreshingly, the menu offers a choice between traditional finger sandwiches and a range of savoury treats such as deviled eggs and pasties. Classic fizz is of course an option, but guests will also be tempted by an array of delicious retro cocktails to match the glamorous vintage setting of Seymour’s Parlour, where the tea is served. Vogue describes the Zetter Townhouse as one of the best afternoon tea spots in London – and who am I to disagree?

High Tea, Farmacy London, £35pp

Clean eaters, this one’s for you! Farmacy specializes in dairy-free, vegan afternoon teas so wonderful that non-vegans will leave converted. Farmacy’s signature treat is the CBD truffle, which is flavoured with cannabidiol (don’t worry, it’s non-psychoactive and totally legal!) But the menu is full of delights such as raw quiche with fig, jackfruit tacos and delicate pink vodka cocktails made of fresh raspberry, rose and lemon. Who knew that an afternoon tea devoid of refined sugars and chemicals could taste so delicious?

Chin chin!
