As one of the major cities in the Northwest of England, Manchester has plenty to offer. From quirky restaurants, vibrant nightlife and an absurd variety of events, it’s not difficult to keep yourself busy. While discovering the city, is also worth exploring the places around Manchester. Here is a selection of eight places you can visit for a short weekend or day trip for those Mancunian newbies.  These towns, cities, and localities are no longer than over an hour from Manchester and are easy to get to by coach, train or car. Liverpool
