The Harry Potter series is one of the most popular books and film series’ to ever exist. Even eight years after the last films release it is still hugely adored and sought after. The fans are some of the most loyal around and eager to have as much experience with the series as possible. With the film being set in the UK, there are many great places to visit that are related to the films. So that you can have the magical time of your life here are places all Harry Potter fans have to visit in the UK.
Warner Bros. Studios Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter is a public attraction in Leavesden in southeastern England located at the Warner Bros studio. It is the ultimate place to visit for any Harry Potter fan. It allows you to walk around the Great Hall, venture into the Forbidden Forest, learn about costumes and props, drink butterbeer and so so much more. Many leftover probs and trinkets from the series have ended up here for you to see. Plus, it has the most amazing gift shop where you can buy wands, cloaks, sweets, and anything from the books/films you could imagine.
Even though you can’t actually jump on the Hogwarts Express and ride it all the way to Hogwarts it is pretty amazing that platform 9¾ is at the real train station.
Look out for a luggage trolley embedded in the wall, and make-believe that you are off to start your magical school journey. The trolley is accessible at all hours, and you don’t have to pay to take your own photographs. Although, you can have a professional photograph taken with a scarf in your house colours, which you can then purchase inside the Harry Potter shop next door.
As much as we’d love it if it was, Hogwarts isn’t a real place (at least it better not be because I’m way too old to receive my letter in the post). But you can visit the castle in which was used in filming in the first two films. In particular where Harry learns to fly and play Quidditch. Walk round where Hogwarts students and staff would go about their daily activities.
Not only can you stroll around but you can take a broomstick training class! You will be taught the basics of mastering a broomstick. Practice your mount and dismount before learning to curve and maneuver across the lawns of the castle.
The Glenfinnan Viaduct is a railway viaduct on the West Highland Line in Glenfinnan, Inverness-shire, Scotland. Located at the top of Loch Shiel in the West Highlands of Scotland, the viaduct overlooks the Glenfinnan Monument and the waters of Loch Shiel. But most importantly its the viaduct that the Hogwarts Express travels across!
By riding the steam train yourself you can feel like you’re traveling to Hogwarts. The Jacobite train runs from May to October and costs £35.00 for an Adult Day Return.
Hagrid’s Hut is a key location in the Prisoner of Azkaban. The pumpkin patch, Buckbeak the hippogriff and the giant stone slabs where Hermione punched Draco all happened here. The good olde times. Even though the sets have now been removed and the hillsides returned to their natural state it still has a major Harry Potter feel and the beauty will wow you.
There’s no denying it, we all wish we received a Hogwarts letter delivered by an owl when we were 11 years old and to be honest we’re still heartbroken it never happened. But by visiting these locations we can feel like we did.
