10 People You Will Always Run Into At Glasgow Caledonian University

Glasgow Caledonian has set itself apart as being the cool and diverse University in Glasgow. Full of very different students studying degrees from Fashion to Nursing and to Accountancy – the Uni boasts a real mixed bag of individuals, meaning you’ll bump into an array of colourful people! Here are 10 people you will always run into at Glasgow Caledonian University.

The Fashion Student

Being only one of two Universities in Glasgow that offer fashion related degrees and one of the few in the whole of Scotland, you’re bound to run into a fashion student. Either a fashion design or branding student, it’s easy to tell who they are in the crowd from their outfit choices!

The Absent Student

There’s always one student you see during Induction week at Glasgow Caledonian University (if they even bother to show up) and then never see again until a deadline is due or they’re simply ordered into Class by the head of year.

The Party Student

With Glasgow Caledonian University being in the centre of Glasgow, where there is no shortage of bars, pubs, clubs and the likes it’s easy to become a student who is fond of a party and an alcoholic drink or two. These types of students are easy to spot. From a mile away, you can notice them strolling about campus with their tired eyes, messy hair, and comfiest clothes on – completely hungover, trying their best to face the day.

The Sporty Student

There is always a crowd of sporty students at every University. You see them lounging in lectures in their sports gear or heading to the gym after class. How do they find the time?!

The International Student

Glasgow Caledonian is home to students from across the globe – the campus boasts a wide variety of nationalities which makes the University such a colourful and cultural place to be. They’re a friendly bunch who love to immerse themselves in the Glasgow way of life!

The Nursing Student

You’ll notice the nursing students instantly when you step on campus. Donning their uniform, a coffee and an over-worked, tired facial expression. It’s true, they’re worked to the bone and deserve every bit of their degree!

The Dedicated Student

Those students that kick about campus wearing the official Glasgow Caledonian University jumpers. The ones who live for Uni life. They’re usually a big part of the societies or you see them throwing flyers at you during Freshers week. One day they will take over the world – watch this space!

The Mature Student

Either they completely ignore all of the other students or they become almost like a mother or father figure for the class throughout the year. They’re full of advice and the kindest students about!

The Student That Doesn’t Shut Up About Their Gap Year

“Oh when I was in…” we get it, you’ve travelled further than the University campus, but we don’t really care. There’s always at least one student that finds a way to name drop cities or countries they’ve been to on their Gap year in any conversation. Even if it is totally irrelevant!

The Organised Student

There are always a few odd organised students amongst the chaos that is the students that leave everything to the last minute. They’ll usually have their huge diaries out in class, writing down, highlighting and maybe even sticking the odd post it notes in there to remind them of deadlines that are light years away. It takes a special kind of person to be organised at Uni, so we can only applaud their efforts!
