Everyone has their favourite places to go in the city, and it’s well known that Liverpool has a great number of amazing things to see and do. However, you have to admit that there are certain things that get a little more credit than they actually deserve – even if you’d never admit that out loud. These are (in my opinion, of course) the 8 most overrated places to go to in Liverpool.
The docks are lovely, I’m not denying that, but there really isn’t that much to do there. The Tate Modern’s nice, but if you don’t fancy spending a ton on food or drink there isn’t that much else to do. The Docks are great for pretty Instagram pictures and if you like modern art museums but that’s about it – unless you can afford to eat or drink in the bars and restaurants there, and even then you can’t deny that the ambiance created by the docks still isn’t 100% worth the amount you just spent on a cocktail you know you could probably get in a pitcher at Spoons. I will admit the padlock gates are pretty cute, though. This is one of the overrated places to go to in Liverpool!
Yeah, yeah, I know – The Beatles helped put Liverpool on the map. It’s almost blaphemous to call them overrated. Yet, I am, because The Beatles Story is just one of many Beatles-memorabilia themed places that exist in Liverpool. If you want to learn more about the Beatles, go to the Museum of Liverpool – it’s fun, it’s accessible and most importantly it’s free. Plus, there’s ton of great people who’ve made Liverpool famous that aren’t The Beatles. Let’s give them a look-in, eh? This is one of the overrated places to go to in Liverpool!
The Liverpool wheel promises amazing panoramic views of the city, which I’m sure it does, but for a city in the North-West of England, this panoramic view is often incredibly grey. Bar dragging your relatives on it if they’re visiting from somewhere else, not many people actually go on it and I think we can all agree that it’s pretty overpriced for what you get, which is a very slow look across Liverpool. This is one of the overrated places to go to in Liverpool!
Alright, yes Liverpool One can be great. It is awesome to be able to walk around a shopping centre that’s actually outside, the range of shops is great and everyone remembers the first time they were allowed to actually go shopping alone with their mates there. However, it sucks to walk around it if it’s raining, and at the end of the day, it is just another shopping centre that just happens to be outside.
First of all, just looking at this thing gives me vertigo. It’s 450 feet tall and for just £6 you can take a lift to the top an enjoy the views across the city. Like the Liverpool wheel, this is overrated as on a grey day, it just isn’t worth it. Sure, it’s a landmark and it’s kinda comforting to see this concrete-and-glass kind of spaceship-shaped monolith looming over the city, but I still don’t think the views can ever be justified.
