10 Outfits Buffy The Vampire Slayer Wore That We Would Totally Steal

mm
Buffy The Vampire Slayer has not only slayed vampires, but her outfits as well! Here are 10 iconic styles worn by Buffy to steal into your wardrobe!

Buffy is one of my favourite TV show characters of all time, from one of my favourite TV shows of all time: Buffy The Vampire Slayer! I started watching it when it first aired when I was a young teen, and recently re-watched the episodes on Netflix and loved it even more the second time around! I forgot how surprisingly witty and funny the dialogue was! The show is a definite must watch with so many amazing life lessons in it with the trials of tribulations of teenagehood manifested into various demons that visit Sunnydale during the course of the series. The creator and writer Joss Whedon is a genius having created one of the most iconic strong female characters of all time. Who would have thought that a pretty young blonde could pack a mean punch? Joss does mention that he was hoping to challenge the female blonde stereotype in horror movies by developing a character that could actually physically fight back.

Apart from the great storyline, one of my favourite elements of Buffy was definitely her wardrobe! I thought she had amazing style throughout the series and really wanted to copy her style when I got older. Thankfully, the types of clothing she wears in the series has come back into fashion, so it is definitely possible to steal elements of her wardrobe! Here are 10 ways to slay your wardrobe like Buffy!

1. Mini Skirt, Knee High Boots, Cute Cardigan

This outfit is of the first ones we see Buffy wear in Season 1. I absolutely love it! It is very feminine and cute, giving off preppy, school girl damsel in distress vibes. Of course, as we know, Buffy is no damsel in distress. After all, “she saved the world, a lot.” This is an outfit I would definitely steal to wear during the day to college or out with your friends. Simply pair it with a simple white crop top, mini skirt, leather knee-high boots and V clip Hair clip and you’re set.

2. The Iconic Turquoise Blazer Shirt

Sarah Michelle Gellar is absolutely stunning. She manages to look good in everything with minimal makeup too! This is definitely one of my favourite outfit choices. Her turquoise button down blazer type shirt compliments her gorgeous skin tone and blonde hair. This is a very 90s look that is well paired with a basic tight white tank underneath and some black pants. It is perfect to go slaying in, of course.

3. The Pink Cherry Print Skirt

This is an absolutely stunning outfit that once I saw I immediately wanted in my closet. Buffy was a huge fan of printed skirts and this particular one is very flattering. The colours compliment the white V neck mini T-shirt she sports. This is extremely cute and perfect for spring or summer, combined with some knee-high boots a la Buffy, or wedges.

4. Red Leather Pants

Of course, the iconic red leather pants that Buffy decided to wear for her epic fight with Faith made the list. She probably knew she would have to wear something stretchable and comfy, for all of her saving the world duties, as well as taking on someone with her exact same strength level. I loved this edgy look and would definitely sneak this into my wardrobe and wear it from time to time to make a statement with a pair of boots and black or white top.

5. Black Leather Trench Coat, Leopard Mini Dress

If there was an outfit that screamed Buffy in the earlier seasons this would be it. She almost always wore her signature knee-high leather boots with almost every outfit. This outfit is very sexy, especially for a teenage student, but I love it! The leopard print mini dress, black trench coat and knee high boots would be enough to stop any Vampire dead in their tracks. In this case that would be Angel. Yup, she definitely looks drop dead gorgeous.

6. Lilac Cardigan

I definitely agree with Cordelia’s comment in the picture below. She may have said that in order to get Buffy to vote for her for Homecoming Queen. But, Buffy does look so cute in that outfit! One thing I really miss about the 90s was having a variety of cardigans that were appropriate to wear anytime, during the day, on a night out. I remember in one of the older seasons of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, we were able to have a little peek at Kim’s closet, where we saw that she had a few shelves dedicated to cute and comfy cardigans. What happened to that trend? This lilac colour is stunning on Buffy, the pastel tones go really well with her long and similarly pastel toned dress. I love the girly vibe of this outfit and it is something I am definitely going to steal and incorporate into my own wardrobe.

7. Funky Printed Trousers

Buffy loved to wear different kinds of printed trousers throughout the seasons. They were usually not skinny, sometimes with a wide leg, to leave room for her square heeled chunky boots. She often mixed up a lot of different coloured pants with her signature V neck top or Halterneck top. I particularly loved these giraffe style printed trousers that made her look really funky! It was the perfect look to wear to high school and then to later on cuddle up to Angel in.

8. Steve Madden Chunky Platform Sandals with A Long Leopard Print Skirt

This is one of my favourite college outfits that Buffy wore at Sunnydale University. She pairs a pastel green halterneck with a long flowy leopard print skirt. Buffy loved leopard print and wore it very often in tops, skirts, trousers and jackets. Thankfully, it has come back into fashion and is what all of us are wearing again! This skirt, paired with her chunky black Steve Madden heels, that absolutely everyone used to wear (yes, including the extra right next to her in the photo below) makes this outfit look amazing!

9. White Mesh Top

There is so much I love about this look she sported in the show. She looks angelic! The white mesh top over a cute tight white spaghetti strap gives the look a bit more style. How she always manages to slay her style is beyond me! Oh wait, she is a superhero of course! I cannot not mention her hair. It is just absolutely perfect.

10. Little Black Dress With Black Knee High Boots

I had to finish this list with one of Buffy’s cutest outfits, and of course something every girl could own and steal into their wardrobe! The combo of the boots and the dress makes this outfit even sexier, and more versatile: as it is wearable during the day or night. And as always, it is very comfortable for those moments you may need to slay a Vampire.

It seems that Buffy not only slays vampires but her outfits as well! Who knew that ‘slay’ would become a popular slang word after the season ended! I have of course left out a lot of her amazing outfits such as the gorgeous formal white dress and leather jacket combo she wore to save the world at the end of Season 1, the stunning red dress she wore to the Homecoming dance, the breathtaking purple dress she wore to Prom with Angel, and many others. There are so many to list, as Buffy is without a doubt, the original style slayer!
