Our Ultimate Travel Bucket List By Continent
Anyone else find scratch maps stressful? Yeah, us too. Like there’s so much pressure to scratch of every place, and to do that you have to actually go to every place. It’s just not doable. But don’t panic. We’ve whittled it down for you so that you can follow a travel bucket list of seven amazing places to go- one for each continent.
1. Norway- Europe
There are so many beautiful destinations in Europe: Portugal, Germany, Croatia, but our top pick has to be Norway. Not only can you get the chance to see the beautiful Aurora Borealis if you visit between November and March, but there are also sights just as stunning on the ground. From the beautiful cliffs and waterfalls of the Geirangerfjord to the cities of Oslo and Bergen, the beautiful mountain roads of the Trollstigen to the awe-inspiring Preikestolen precipice- this is one beautiful country.
2. Japan- Asia
In more recent years, places in Asia such as Thailand and Vietnam have become famed for being “Gap Year” destinations, but these aren’t the only worthwhile destinations in Asia. Famed for its beautiful cherry blossom trees, Japan is well worth a visit. With iconic landmarks such as Mount Fuji and the Tokyo Skytree as well as beautiful temples and castles such as Osaka Castle, and natural wonders, like the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, Japan is an essential destination on our travel bucket list.
3. Madagascar- Africa
Known in relation to the Dreamworks animated film series, Madagascar is probably one of the places in Africa we’d most like to visit. With its dense rainforests, glowing beaches, and a huge variety of animal species native only to the island, there are so many reasons we want to go here, not to mention the super cool Baobab trees. Plus we really wanna see a Fossa in the flesh!
4. California- North America
California is one of those dreamy places we’ve always wanted to go for a whole number of reasons. Whether it’s because of the pull of Hollywood, or the Golden Gate Bridge, or the stunning glacial valleys and deserts or just the idea to learning to surf on those glamorous golden beaches, California made its way onto this travel bucket list with ease.
5. Brazil- South America
Brazil is one of those places you think of in kinda photo snapshots- the main one being the iconic “Christ the Redeemer” statue in Rio de Janeiro, that gives stunning panoramic city views. There’s so much more to Brazil than this view of Rio, though. The beautiful sandy stretches of the Red Beach and Canoa Quebrada, sublime mountains like Pedra de Gávea and the Sugarloaf Mountain, and amazing city spots like Copacabana, all make Brazil an essential player in our Travel Bucket List.
6. New South Wales, Australia- Australasia
The New South Wales state of Australia might possibly be the most popular tourist destination in the country, but the fact that it’s such a mainstream location doesn’t put us off one bit, because we can clearly see where this popularity is coming from. We certainly couldn’t resist the attraction of cities like Melbourne and Sydney, the bright stretch of Bondi Beach (the namesake of our fave tan), or the scenic nature parks- which is the precise reason New South Wales made its way onto this list.
7. The Lemaire Channel- Antarctica
People frequently write Antarctica off as an expansive wasteland that’s too dangerous to be a holiday destination. But that is so not true, as proven by the beauty of the Lemaire Channel. This icy strait, framed by towering cliffs and gigantic icebergs, is a breathtaking stretch of snowy beauty that is something we don’t want to miss out on.
