8 Of The Best Bars In London You Need To Visit

It’s not exactly difficult to find a bar in London, but with so many to choose from it can be hard to pick one. Your group size, occasion, and tastes all influence your decision for the best place to go for a drink. Here are our top eight suggestions for the best bars in London.

Lyaness

Formerly branded as Dandelyan (named the world’s number one bar), Lyaness is the latest concoction from Mr. Lyan that has taken over its space in the Sea Containers hotel. Views of the Thames, beautifully decorated blue interiors and a cocktail list designed around seven unusual ingredients, there is no doubt that this new concept will also be winning awards in no time. For a special occasion, book for afternoon tea where each course is served with a signature cocktail.

Madison

Ultra sexy and perfect for both large groups and intimate dates (this one will impress), Madison serves up all the usual favorites with spectacular views of the dome of St Paul’s Cathedral and live DJ sets. Sit back on the plush sofas, pose for pics with the best backdrop in the city or dance the night away. The atmosphere is buzzing all week but really picks up on the weekends, so be prepared to wait a while for the lift up to the bar.

Gordon’s Wine Bar

Snuggle up in the dark and cozy caves of this old underground bar in the winter or sprawl out on the terrace in the summer months. If you like your wine then this is the place to be, if not then get to like it – that is all that is served in this traditional bar. Order by the glass or the bottle and grab a colossal charcuterie board to soak up the alcohol. You may have stopped in for a quick one but you will most certainly stay here all day.

Sky Pod

Drinks locations don’t get much more interesting than in a garden in the sky. Sky Pod is atop the famous ‘walkie talkie’ building in London and features 36o views of the city as well as an impressive garden, making it truly unique. Walk-ins are welcome in the evening although it is usually worth booking for a guaranteed table since this venue is almost always busy. Be sure to try the seasonal cocktails and take a walk around the whole of the garden.

Ronnie Scott’s

The most famous jazz club in London with a global reputation for being one of the best in the business, Ronnie Scott’s in Soho is where to go if you want to dance. The main club room has table service throughout with food and drinks available all night, but you will need to book tickets in advance. If you fancy a visit on a whim, tickets for Ronnie’s Bar upstairs can be bought on the door and the venue stays open until 3am with live music on all night.

American Bar At The Savoy

For a touch of class and opulence, there is nowhere better in London than the American Bar at The Savoy Hotel. With an incredible legacy as the longest-serving cocktail bar in the city, it is no surprise that American Bar is continually ranked as one of the top drinking spots in the world. Sit at the bar sipping a cocktail inspired by one of many legendary musicians while listening to the live pianist, all in the room that has been frequented by countless icons over the years.

Grind

Coffee house by day, a cocktail bar by night. Famed for their espresso martinis but loved for their inventive cocktail list and millennial pink interiors, Grind is one of the best bars in London to meet your blind date or catch up with friends after work. Their alcohol policy means you will have to buy something to eat if you want a drink but with so many scrumptious snacks and desserts on the menu, that won’t be a problem. While you’re there, take a trip to the bathroom and learn how to order coffee in a foreign language, as taught from the speakers inside.

Brasserie Max Bar At Covent Garden Hotel

Situated on Monmouth Street off of Seven Dials, the bar at the Covent Garden Hotel is the perfect place for people watching. Best visited for a pre or post dinner drink when it is warm enough to sit outside, so you are able to take in the comings and goings of people as they wander around this vibrant part of the city.
