8 Most Chic Coffee Shops In Ayr

A chic coffee shop always makes going out for coffee more enjoyable. From funky furniture to flavorsome food, here are the eight most chic coffee shops in Ayr!

1. Caffe Monza

This hipster paradise is situated in what used to be a branch of the Santander bank. What opened up in its place is a funky coffee house with heavy wooden tables, comfy booths, and one giant stone altar you can eat from. The shop is well known for its large illuminated sign which reads “But First Coffee”. You can get some fabulous Italian food here such as foccacia or cannolis – or you can munch on some delicious cakes. The decor is cosy and inviting and always makes you feel welcome.

2. The Coo Shed

If farm cottage is your idea of chic, you cannot go wrong with The Coo Shed. This quaint little eatery sits in the fields in the Corton part of town. The shed provides its own milk as it is attached to a working dairy farm, and even has its own milk vending machine where you can fill a bottle and take it home for yourself! Attached to The Coo Shed is Corton Plants, a garden centre full of gorgeous flowers and adorable garden planters and decorations which you can buy. There is a great selection of food such as sandwiches, baked potatoes, scampi, and macaroni cheese – as well as a wide variety of delicious cakes! Inside the Shed you will find some fabulous lights made out of the cow milking tubes! When you leave, you can stop by the field and wave to all the cows!

3. Pandora Coffee House

Don’t get this place confused with the jewellery shop which is only a few streets away. Pandora is a licensed coffee house and bistro across from the Town Hall in Ayr town centre. The coffee shop originally opened in the High Street in the early 1960s and had a gift shop downstairs. After the Kyle Centre was set to be built, Pandora moved into the old Academy Cafè which had existed since the 1920s. Despite being refurbished in the 1980s, Pandora were keen to keep the unique art deco style of Academy Cafè including the wood panel walls and the original wall lights, making it look straight out of The Great Gatsby. They serve a range of breakfast rolls and sandwiches as well as omlettes, pasta, and pizzas. They also have a range of cakes and pastries and even ice cream!

4. Kawiarnia Coffee House

It is a running joke among Ayr residents that nobody knows how to pronounce the name of this Polish cafè, but it is beloved by the town all the same. The pierogi is considered their specialty and it is one of the few places in Ayr where you can buy it. The cafè is also totally dog friendly, so you can usually find a few pooches milling about inside looking for cuddles! There’s even a weekly prize for the best dog! The decor is sleek and elegant and has the style of a stately home. Outside is a nice little garden area with lovely planters full of bright, colourful flowers. The menu is varied with choices of Polish food or traditional breakfast and lunches. It is definitely worth a visit.

5. Poet’s Corner

So named because it sits directly across from Burns’ Cottage, Poet’s Corner is one of Alloway’s post popular coffee shops. The hidden gem is known for its great service and cheerful staff. Inside, the decor is quaint and colourful and exactly what you would expect for a true Scottish tourist attraction. There is even a lectern with a book of Burns poetry for you to browse through! It is built into a row of old buildings giving it a warm and cosy feel whilst you enjoy your coffee. Supposedly the scones are some of the best you will ever eat! It is a perfect place to stop whilst out on a walk through the most famous part of the town.

6. Café 51

Cafè 51 has always been popular among the people of Ayr. With dark oak tables, comfy booths, and an exposed stone wall, this place is absolutely beautiful. Unlike most coffee shops in Ayr, this one serves dinner as well as lunch and it even does takeaway! Their scone of the day is ever-changing and is always an interesting flavour! Outside is a classy beer garden area which sits between the glass buildings that line the street. If you are looking for a chilled out dining experience in an attractive setting, then Cafè 51 could be the coffee shop for you.

7. Café Le Monde

This sweet little coffee shop has something for everyone from delicious cakes to tasty paninis. The family owned cafè takes pride in its history and even has a wall of photographs, making it feel as if you are dining in their home with the family. They truly go all out on the decor, with eye-catching artwork and an impressive China cabinet. There is a wall of comfy sofas for when you want to take the load off your feet, and each one has a pretty cushion to match for extra comfort. The cafè embraces its seaside location, truly feeling like a classic fisherman’s place to eat. At Cafè Le Monde, it is like summer all year round.

8. The Secret Garden

This lovely cafè is in the neighbourhood of Doonfoot, far away from the coffee shops at the centre of town. Truly a “secret” after all! It is built inside a renovated cottage and has a large beer garden outside on the decking overlooking the woods and the river. Inside, the cafè is chintzy and welcoming with a real “country kitchen” vibe. They go in hard for holidays at The Secret Garden and the place turns into Santa’s Grotto every December. Stop in here after a riverside walk for a hot coffee and a scone, or a tasty stack of Stornoway black puddings. You won’t be disappointed!
