Living in Manchester is both a blessing and curse if you’re a foodie. The culinary scene is so vast that is hard to keep track of every fantastic restaurant. It’s even worse when you are a broke student or have a tight budget. Luckily, there are some places that offer mouth-watering dishes for less than a fiver. Say goodbye to your McDonald’s and Subway days and visit all of the following Manchester restaurants!

1. This & That

If you fancy some authentic, homely curry, head straight away to This & That. This family-run business, established in 1984, is famous for its option a plateful of three homemade curries and rice coming in at less than a fiver. Meat options are slightly pricier but nothing beyond a tenner.

2. Northern Soul

This toastie nirvana offers cheese lovers their daily fill. Sandwiches, mac n cheese bowls, and nacho baskets feature the menu. All of them are served with a generous dose of the restaurant’s secret three-cheese blend.

3. Bakchich

Enjoy a massive menu of authentic Lebanese food including salads, pizzas, mixed mezze and wraps from under a fiver. If you’re a fan hummus, this is a must-visit; Bakchich’s hummus will make you fall in love.

5. Bundobust

Indian food and craft beer, you read that right. This award-winning combination is brought to you by Bundobust, a relatively new restaurant famous for its vast variety of soups and biryani bhaji balls.

Not just your average café. This vegetarian food and juice bar has it all; from hot drinks to juice and smoothies, and a fantastic menu offering different specials every day.

7. Kabana

Another fantastic Indian restaurant offering curries, vegetarian curries, grill dishes and more. With prices ranging between £3.50 to £5, you can’t really go wrong.

8. Barbakan

This award-winning continental bakery has got you covered all times; breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a menu that includes hot drinks, pastries, chicken and a Saturday sausage platter!
