Embrace Your Height: 8 Things To Understand If You’re The “Tall Friend”

mm
Here are some things you can totally relate to if you're the tall friend. Embrace your height! It's what makes you unique!

You cannot escape your genes; if you’re tall you’re tall and need to embrace it. All my life, I’ve been the tallest in the room – that includes boys and even some of my teachers – and I used to care so much but I have learnt to embrace my height. I was pushed to think about myself instead of society, I can proudly say I don’t care anymore that being a tall girl is considered weird or un-natural. I’m not scared to wear heels or to dress up and look nice. I now acknowledge the stares, and date whomever I want because, in my mind, it’s what I believe and not about the standards of society. Here are 8 things you need to understand if you are the tall friend; in order to embrace your height.

Borrowing clothes is going to be impossible

It is so difficult to borrow a friends clothes because their clothes are too short for you. Take jeans for example; the crotch isn’t even in line and the legs are multiple inches too short so you’re wearing ankle bashers. You’ll totally understand if you’re the tall friend

You have to either squat or sit down for group photos

If you are the only tall person in the group then when it comes to photos you have to move yourself to be everybody else’s height. Whether this be bending your knees to a half squat or sitting on the front row otherwise your head gets chopped out the photo. Don’t even get me started on school photos; all tall people are sent to the back.

You feel too tall in heels

I hate wanting to wear heels on a night out because even when your friends wear heels you are still the tall one; and if you are in flats then you are still taller then them in their heels so there is no winning. And forget wearing heels on your own because then you are a foot taller than everyone. Most of the time tall people in heels feel like Bambi because your legs are elongated even more and you become all limbs.

Finding boys is hard

When you are tall dating becomes a right hassle because tall boys are so hard to find.  Either you are taller than them or they are your height so forget wearing heels. Can we create a tall boys finding app please. If you’re the tall friend you will totally relate to this.

Nobody can keep up with you

When your legs are longer then everyone else’s you can take bigger strides. This means walking anywhere with your short friends takes ages because you have to walk so much slower.

Hugging can be awkward

Hugging can be a real sticky situation if you are hugging anybody smaller because they get a face full of boob. Any nobody wants a face full of boob, especially your grandma. It gets better if the person is tall enough for your arms to wrap around each other but just be wary whenever you hug someone as things will become awkward. Something everyone gets if they’re the tall friend.

You’ll stand out in a crowd

When it comes to being in a crowd your head will always stand out above others. this means there is no chance in you blending in because you can be seen a mile away. At least when you are at a festival or concert you will have the best view.

You can reach the high shelf

Being tall means that everybody will think you can do them favours and reach things from the top shelf. This means reaching for something at the back of the cupboard or taking down a picture. Better deal with it because things won’t change.

I am sure there are many other things so understand and acknowledge if you are tall, but these are the main ones I am sure every tall person can relate to. On the plus side you will always be tall enough to ride any roller coaster so yay winning. If you have any other things so understand if you are the tall friend we would love to know.
