I Got My Eyebrows Tinted For The First Time And Now I’m Addicted

Once you get your eyebrows tinted, there’s no going back. Maybe you have super light brows and love the idea of not having to draw them on day after day, or you just want to give it a go because you’ve heard such good things about it. Either way, once you start getting your eyebrows tinted there’s no way you’ll be able to stop!

Before

I’ll admit, I never focused much on my appearance when I was younger. The concept of eyebrow plucking, let alone tinting, was foreign to me, so my brows weren’t exactly what you’d call ‘on fleek’. When I finally felt the urge as a fourteen-year-old to pick up a pair of tweezers and style them myself, I had no idea where to start. I hadn’t watched anyone do it before and, having heard too many horror stories, I really didn’t want to get it wrong. So I sat in front of a mirror, scrolling through ‘how to’ articles and trying to replicate the experts’ techniques on my own face. Tragic, I know.

A Common Mistake

This led to the disaster which made me turn to a professional for help. Within minutes I had made the all too common mistake of completely over plucking, to the point where anyone would have thought I only had half an eyebrow. Not only this, but I had also taken hairs from above the brow, something which I later found out really wasn’t recommended. With the only upside to this being that my brows were so light that they were barely noticeable anyway, I decided there and then to get them sorted – I would go to Superdrug and get both my eyebrows tinted and threaded.

Patch Test

One thing I didn’t know when I walked into Superdrug was that I needed to have a patch test before I could receive treatment. Although this left me very disappointed, the technician explained the importance of one; of course, they don’t want you to have some sort of reaction to the tint that they use. That said, please make sure wherever you go offers a patch test first! It takes just two minutes of your time and is worth not having any bigger eyebrow problems on your hands.

During

The actual process wasn’t as painful as some of my friends led me to believe. Yes, my eyes teared up slightly and the area around my brows seemed to be bright red, but the famous saying ‘no pain no gain’ was on repeat in my head; I knew it would be worth it. The tinting process was a lot more entertaining than the threading, with my eyebrows soon bearing a striking resemblance to that of a slug’s. I worried that this would mean my eyebrows would be too dark in the final result, but the technician reassured me that most of the tint would eventually wipe off. I decided to stop worrying, sit back and just relax.

After

Once all tint had been wiped off and all stray hairs wiped away from my brows, I took a look in the mirror; it was obvious straight away that this was going to become an addictive process. My brows somehow had been transformed; they were no longer the barely there, badly shaped brows I had once grown to accept as simply part of my face, but beautiful thick brows which were actually a similar colour to my hair. I fell in love with them, and knowing that it was unlikely that I’d be able to achieve this again in the comfort of my own bedroom, I told myself I’d go back once a month.

Getting your eyebrows tinted is addictive, full stop. Maybe you’re not an amateur like me and want to save money by plucking your own brows before you go, but I would fully recommend eyebrow tinting to anyone. Have you ever had your brows tinted?
