How To Spend A Weekend In Birmingham

If you are planning your next weekend getaway, Birmingham is the place the visit. With its contribution to industrial revolution and second biggest city in the United Kingdom, yes! Bigger than Glasgow, it has so much to offer, and you can make the best out of it.

Transportation

There are many means of transportation in the city, such as buses and metro, canal, trains, taxi and bicycle hire. Everywhere in the City is easily accessible. The buses depart from various points in the city. Maps for the buses are available at tourist offices and Train timetables and information can be found on the National Rail website or simply ask a train station worker for assistance.

Tourist Attractions

There are an amazing number of attractions on offer such as; Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery which has the world largest collection of pre-Raphaelite paintings, Cadbury chocolate factory which is the second largest chocolate factory in the world, the Hobbit and lord of the rings written by author J.R.R. Tolkien was inspired in a town in Birmingham called sarehole, Birmingham Wildlife Conservation Park, second city boat for a canal tour as the city is believed to have one of the most beautiful canals in the world, a trip to the city centre where you will be able to see some amazing street performances and the mailbox shopping centre where you will shop till you drop.

Birmingham is not just the second biggest city in the UK, it also holds five Michelin- starred restaurants, coming second to London such as the Purnell’s restaurant in Cornwall street and Adams restaurants in new oxford street. Whether you are after just a pint or something stronger Birmingham pubs will provide that for you. Hare and hounds in high street, is one of the best pubs on offer in Birmingham.
